Music Coordinator/Choir Director

The Music Coordinator/Choir Director is responsible for leading the musical aspects of the worship services and special events at the church under the supervision of the Church Pastor. This role involves coordinating with choir members and other participants to ensure that the music enhances the worship experience. The Music Coordinator should possess a strong musical background, excellent organizational skills, and a deep commitment to God and the church's missions and core values.
Key Responsibilities:
Worship Service Music Playing: Play music for all worship services, including songs, anthems, special music, and other musical elements.
Choir and Ensemble Leadership: Direct and rehearse with the church choir, or other musical ensembles. Schedule regular rehearsals and provide musical direction
Musician Coordination: Recruit, schedule, and coordinate musicians, including instrumentalists, vocalists, and accompanists for worship services and special events.
Special Services and Events: Play and coordinate music for special services (e.g., Christmas, Easter, weddings, funerals) and church events. Work closely with the Pastor and Worship Committee to ensure the music aligns with the church's calendar and special themes.
Music Education: Provide musical education opportunities for the congregation and choir members, such as teaching new songs, etc.
Administrative Duties: Order music and supplies, maintain the church's music library, and ensure that all musical equipment is in good working order.
Qualifications:
Musical Expertise: Strong proficiency in music, including vocal and instrumental skills, conducting, and music theory. Ability to arrange and adapt music as needed.
Leadership and Coordination Skills: Experience in directing choirs, coordinating musicians, and leading rehearsals. Strong organizational and time-management skills.
Education and Experience: Previous experience in church music leadership is preferred.
Interpersonal Skills: Ability to work well with volunteers, church staff, and congregation members. Strong communication and team-building skills.
Working Conditions:
Hours: Part-time including Sundays, weekly rehearsals, and additional services during holidays or special events.
Environment: Church setting, with regular interaction with choir members, musicians, and church staff.
Physical Requirements: Ability to sit for extended periods and direct choirs.
