Designer, Men's Apparel [In-Office, Glendale, CA]

Men's Apparel DesignerOverview:We are seeking a talented and experienced Men's Apparel Designer to join our creative team. This role focuses on the development of top-quality designs for specialty, mid-tier, and mass retail accounts, with a strong emphasis on licensed apparel. The ideal candidate will have a deep understanding of fashion within the retail space and the ability to consistently translate direction for assigned accounts. This position requires exceptional creative capabilities and experience within both licensed and non-licensed apparel.Key Responsibilities:- Contribute to the development of high-quality designs with a focus on licensed apparel for various retail accounts.- Execute design direction, recognizing key elements essential to the viability, intention, and aesthetics of the design.- Self-direct projects given necessary information and manage tasks under tight deadlines.- Create designs reflective of marketplace trends that are appropriate for the customer.- Collaborate directly with cross-functional teams, including Creative Directors, merchandising, and licensing teams, to meet all project timelines.- Maintain a solid knowledge of current licenses and the associated design restrictions.- Navigate design restrictions through creative problem-solving and effective communication with the licensing team.- Communicate effectively with peers and leadership regarding daily tasks, workload, challenges, design concepts, and suggestions for improvement.Qualifications:- Minimum 5 years of experience in design within the licensed apparel industry.- Advanced knowledge and proficiency with Adobe Creative Suite and Microsoft Office.- Thorough understanding of fashion trends within the retail space.- Ability to think critically about cross-development processes to ensure productive and meaningful use of company resources.- Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, for effective collaboration with teammates and leadership.
