Part-Time Monday, Wednesday, Friday 9am - 12pm + 3 to 4 hours/week working from homeSUMMARY:This position is an integral part of the pastoral care team providing worship leadership and music activities to the residents of St. John’s United. This position also works cohesively with Center for Generations teaching music and coordinating intergenerational activities.ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTION: Related ResponsibilitiesProvide worship leadership with music for services on the St. John’s campus working with pastors who are leading services (including worship at cottages, Legacy Building, Mission Ridge and Vista).Provide music instruction for daycare groups, toddlers through Pre-K.Offer music opportunities for residents in a variety of forms (goal is one special activity per 4-6 weeks), depending on music skills and other music activities already offered—for instance: sing-alongs, group piano, drumming groups, intergenerational music with residents and hymn-sings.Offer music at end of life and other times of need for residents and families as time allows.May participate providing music for events and special services such as Years of Service Awards, memorial services, annual meeting, and other social functions.Be an integral part of the Spiritual/Pastoral Care Team.ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTION: SafetyObeys safety rules of St. John’s United.Identifies, reports, and/or corrects obvious safety hazards.Attends mandatory safety in-services.ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTION: Mission/Customer ServiceSupports the growth and actively engages in the Eden Alternative philosophy, including a work environment with plants and animals. Follows the St. John’s Guidelines for Customer Service:Let the Mission be your guide.Make eye contact and smile.Greet & welcome each and every person.Seek out personal contact.Provide immediate service-listen & act.Use appropriate body language at all times.Be gracious to each & every person.ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTION: Employee ResponsibilitiesFollows policy and procedures on annual TB testing.Follows policy and procedures on annual influenza vaccinations.Attends all mandatory in-services.Works under the general supervision of the Social Service Department.Has daily contact with the potential residents and their families.Has daily contact with nursing home direct care staff to communicate pertinent resident admission information.REQUIREMENTS:Knowledge, skills, and abilities required:Ability to play piano or guitar, or other musical accompaniment instrument.Ability to lead music and singing.Ability to sight read music.Ability to work with a wide range of people: staff, residents, volunteers, and daycare teachers.Basic computer abilities (Word, Outlook, etc).Ability to text.Spiritual or church background helpful in leading hymns for worship.Function in a team environment.PHYSICAL DEMANDS:Requires minimal lifting functions.Requires moderate bending, standing, and reaching activities.WORKING CONDITIONS:Normal office setting.
