Hanscom AFB, MA 01731Duties:Recruit and organize participants for praise team/small choir.Conduct weekly rehearsals for Catholic & Protestant services or additional as needed.Work closely with the Chaplain and Catholic priest over the service to ensure songs are selected that are consistent with the theme of sermon topics and relevant to the congregation. Praise song selections, hymns, and anthems should be discussed with the Chaplain/Catholic priest in charge of the service prior to the Sunday in which they are played with final approval being reached by consensus between the musician and Chaplain/Catholic priest.Be familiar and able to utilize PowerPoint/Worship Presentation Software for Protestant Worship service.Be fully equipped in knowing how to play an organ/piano, sing, lead others, and be familiar with all genres of worship music.Be responsible for musical supplies such as songbooks, sheet music, etc., and will ensure areas used within the facility are left in an orderly manner after services/rehearsals.Be responsible for building security (ensuring that all doors and windows are locked before departing the facility) and conservation of energy (turning off all lights, equipment, etc.).Ensure all worship activities are coordinated with the chapel staff; when necessary, utilize proper chapel forms, and verify that proposed activities are included in the chapel calendar.Total maximum units to be provided are 104 Sunday performances (two worship services on Sunday 0900 Protestant and 1030 Catholic Mass), 104 rehearsals (one rehearsal for Protestant & one for Catholic), 10 special observances, and 10 special observance rehearsals as needed/requested (Holy Days, and special events/activities). Historically, each of these events lasts approximately one (1) hour.Education/Experience:Have at least three years of experience within the past five years and comprehensive knowledge in leading worship music and praise team leadership.Demonstrate skills conducting and directing rehearsals and services.Have a working knowledge of the order of Catholic Mass and traditional/contemporary worship services.Able to read, transpose, and read music.Be able to articulate understanding importance and demonstrate a willingness to work in a multi-faith pluralistic chapel environment.Must have a thorough understanding of the order and function of worship at Sunday worship and special services for both Catholic and Protestant services.
