Job Summary:The Senior Video Producer is responsible for the development and production of short-form editorial content distributed on National Geographic social accounts such as TikTok and Instagram. The senior video producer must have the ability to identify, develop and produce compelling, editorial immersive content that aligns with National Geographic’s brand and editorial focus on science, history, and animals.Responsibilities:Develop, oversee and execute original social video productions, including research, budget recommendation, planning, coordinating logistics, technical production and video editing.Scout, vet, assign and manage freelance and contract talent.Guide internal producers to develop stories that follow the established tone and approach.Ensure production is executed efficiently, on budget and meets established deadlines and deliverables.Lead production meetings, brainstorm creative and innovative approaches and generate new ideas for social and other online platforms.Contribute to and execute digital visual strategy.Keep track of editorial priorities, identify production alignment and communicate with internal stakeholders at the Director and VP level.Collaborate closely with audience teams and internal stakeholders on story promotion, audience feedback and analytics.Basic Qualifications:Strong editorial values and attention to detail.Ability to collaborate with editorial staff to identify stories and develop pitches.Proven ability to manage videographers, graphic artists, and producers.Proficient in Adobe Creative Suite (Premiere, AfterEffects, Illustrator); experience with Capcut a plus.Ability to write engaging scripts for different social platforms.Highly organized; ability to manage multiple projects at once and meet deadlines.Self-motivated and resourceful, with the ability to exercise independent judgement.Strong communication and interpersonal skills.Previous experience and enthusiasm for social video content and audience on platforms including TikTok and Instagram.Experience with managing deliverables and legal paperwork.Preferred Qualifications:Awareness of successful content creators for potential partnerships.Required Education:Bachelor’s degree.Preferred Education:Experience in media production, video journalism preferred.Expertise in National Geographic’s core subject areas preferred.The hiring range for this position in Washington DC is $92,800 to $124,400 per year. The base pay actually offered will take into account internal equity and may vary depending on the candidate’s geographic region, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience among other factors. A bonus and/or long-term incentive units may be provided as part of the compensation package, in addition to the full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits, dependent on the level and position offered.
