Discover Sugar River Region (DSRR) is a nonprofit destination management organization founded in 2022 to enhance Sullivan County as a desirable tourism destination in New Hampshire. The organization develops, promotes, and sustains regional assets to create a thriving visitor economy and improve quality of life for residents and visitors alike.Available Position: Executive DirectorDSRR is seeking a dynamic and experienced leader to serve as the young organization’s first Executive Director. This position is responsible for overseeing the administration, program operations, and strategic direction of the destination management and tourism marketing organization for Sullivan County. Organization Operations:

Oversees and secures appropriate resources to ensure that the operations of the organization are effective.Manages all standard operating procedures, including destination marketing, until staff or service providers are acquired responsibly.Develops employment and administrative policies and procedures for all functions and for the day-to-day operation of the nonprofit.Responsible for the hiring and retention of competent, qualified staff and service providers.Responsible for signing all notes, agreements, and other instruments made and entered into and on behalf of the organization. Review and approve contracts for services.2)

Board Governance:

Provides support in preparation and organization of Board and committee meetings.Report to and work closely with the Board of Directors to seek their involvement in policy decisions, fundraising and to increase the overall visibility of the destination throughout New England.Responsible for communicating effectively with the Board and providing, in a timely and accurate manner, all information necessary for the Board to function properly and to make informed decisions.3)

Financial Performance and Viability:

Develops resources sufficient to ensure the financial health of the organization.Responsible for the fiscal integrity of the organization, to include planning, preparation, and submission to the Board of a proposed annual budget, as well as quarterly financial statements, which accurately reflect the financial condition of the organization.Responsible for managing and operating within the approved budget, ensuring maximum resource utilization, and maintenance of the organization in a positive financial position.Responsible for fundraising and developing other resources necessary to support the DSRR mission.4)

Organization Mission and Strategy:

Works with board, committees, volunteers, vendors/partners, and staff to ensure that the mission is fulfilled through programs, strategic planning and community outreach.Responsible for leading the DSRR in a manner that supports and guides the organization’s mission as defined by the Board of Directors.Responsible for executing and overseeing marketing and other communications efforts, implementing DSRR’s programs that carry out the organization’s mission.Responsible for developing and implementing (with the Executive Committee) strategic planning to ensure that DSRR can successfully fulfill its Mission into the future.Establish and maintain relationships with various organizations throughout New England and utilize those relationships to strategically enhance DSRR’s Mission.Serves as DSRR’s primary spokesperson to the organization’s constituents, the media, and the general public. Responsible for the enhancement of the organization’s image by being active and visible in the community and by working closely with other professional, civic and private organizations.Minimum Professional Qualifications:Transparent and high integrity leadershipSolid budget management skills, including budget preparation, analysis, decision-making and reportingStrong organizational abilities including planning, delegating, program development and task facilitationStrong communication and public speaking skills with the ability to convey the vision of DSRR’s strategic future to staff, board, volunteers and donorsKnowledge of fundraising and donor relations strategies unique to nonprofit sectorProven ability to collaborate with and motivate board members, staff, and volunteersExperience in nonprofit management,
