For more information, visit DMA.org.DMA Mission :The Dallas Museum of Art is a space of wonder and discovery where art comes alive.The DMA will :Place art and our diverse communities at the center around which all activities radiate.Pursue excellence in collecting and programming, present works of art across cultures and time, and be a driving force in contemporary art.Strengthen our position as a prominent, innovative institution, expanding the meaning and possibilities of learning and creativity.Scope of Position :Design and manage the production of the museum’s exhibition and gallery environments, under the supervision of the Director of Collections, Exhibitions, and Interpretation, in collaboration with all museum departments including Interpretation, Experience, Curatorial, Conservation, and Security.Duties and Responsibilities :Supervise, manage, and provide dynamic leadership for the DMA's in-house exhibition design team, consisting of an Exhibition Designer and Senior Manager of Gallery Technology, providing guidance, setting professional standards and processes, establishing a work environment that allows for open communication and a culture of collaboration which underscores a sense of authority and ownership for the successful outcomes of the respective areas for each staff member.Design and/or collaborate with staff and/or outside exhibition design contractors on presentations of temporary exhibitions and permanent collection installations.Create exhibition graphic identity and design drawing packages (layouts, elevations, case schedules etc) for construction, fabrication, and installation of art objects.Chair meetings, organize presentations, identify and support initiatives to support the implementation of design. Attend exhibition core team, departmental, and other museum planning meetings as required.Develop design standards and processes for all three-dimensional and graphic components within art galleries. In collaboration with the Experience Team, ensure the galleries align with marketing efforts to ensure a consistent visual brand, style, and voice for the Museum.Manage repository for all gallery floor plans and design templates.Oversee and track all aspects of design from initial concepts through fabrication and final delivery, ensuring that design elements are delivered on-time, and budgets are not exceeded.In collaboration with Carpentry Manager, ensure quality of built elements are up to DMA standard, and final products are in alignment with design intent and drawings. Estimate, order, and negotiate costs related to exhibition design materials as needed, and consult on production timelines.Collaborate with Interpretation and Curatorial staff on didactics, interactives, and other interpretation elements for exhibitions and permanent collection installations.Maintain inventory of exhibition furniture, casework, and accessories (tables, chairs, carpets, magnifying glasses, casework, etc.).Produce design materials such as sketches, renderings, models, and maquettes.Produce creative work or ideas that respond to functional, aesthetic, and/or budgetary constraints.Other duties, as assigned.RequirementsB.A. degree requiredMinimum of 5 years’ experience with architectural, environmental, 3D, or exhibition design encompassing initial concept stage to completion required. Experience working with fine art preferred.Additional 2-D graphic, environmental graphic, interactive media, or wayfinding design experience is strongly preferred.Strong experience with design software such as Adobe Creative Suite such as Photoshop, Illustrator, and InDesign required.Strong experience with CAD, Sketch-up, or other 3D design tools required.Ability to understand color as applied to environmental spaces, basic knowledge of lighting design, understanding of materials and fabrication techniques with sensitivity to artwork conservation concerns, and experience applying ADA and life/safety requirements to built spaces required.Excellent computer skills with Office 365 applications required.Excellent demonstrated skills in production process, as well as production oversight and management, strength in organization, problem solving, multi-tasking within multiple complex projects and performing detail-oriented work with accuracy.Strong communication, collaboration, teamwork and presentation skills with the ability to maintain strict confidentiality.Working knowledge of TMS is a plus.Portfolio and/or project sample submission required.Application Instructions/RequirementsUpload your
