We are seeking a talented and versatile Media Specialist III to join our team, focusing on sport fish and wildlife recovery projects and climate resiliency initiatives. The ideal candidate will excel in crafting compelling written and multimedia content for a wide range of platforms and audiences. This role involves developing and coordinating written narratives, video material, news releases, social media content, and media advisories to effectively communicate the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service's ongoing efforts.Most of the work will be accomplished at in the specific location designated for each assignment, all locations within the Southeast region, those include the states of Alabama, Arkansas, Florida, Georgia, Kentucky, Louisiana, Mississippi, North Carolina, South Carolina, Tennessee, Puerto Rico and/or the Virgin Islands.Location: Atlanta, GA (Work will be sporadic and location may vary throughout the US)Period of Performance:

Phase I – September 23, 2024, to September 22, 2025 (1872 hours)Phase II – September 23, 2025, to September 22, 2026 (1872 hours) – OptionalThis position will often work with firearm and fishing manufacturers. Understanding of those industries is strongly recommended.Hours and Schedule: 36 hours per weekTravel: 2-4 weeks of travel per year minimumPosition is contingent upon contract award.

Duties & Responsibilities:Writing and editing in a variety of styles for multiple purposes and audiences:

The contracted employee would develop and coordinate written and video material in sport fish and wildlife recovery projects and climate resiliency and mitigation projects, including news releases and media advisories, descriptions, updates, scripts for short Web, video and audio productions, social media posts, and key messages to prepare themselves and other spokespeople to undertake phone or on-site audio or video interviews. All project written narratives, photographs, and audio and video material will be posted to the US Fish and Wildlife Service's website.Pitching stories to news media and editors:The contracted employee will use written materials and develop key messages to proactively contact key regional and national reporters to pitch story ideas. The purpose of these pitches is to increase coverage by mainstream media of the Service's work to recover facilities, species, and habitats related to the sportfish and wildlife recovery/conservation, and to work with partners to create more climate-resilient ecosystems.Audio and video recording and editing:

The contracted employee would periodically conduct phone audio interviews with subject matter experts and assist with editing audio and video files.Skills and Qualification:

Must possess excellent writing and oral communication skills, as well as experience working with print and broadcast mediaExperience as a journalist is preferredSkill in obtaining and quickly understanding project informationWriting in a clear and concise manner appropriate for the media and other materials for the WebSkill must be sufficient to prepare acceptable written material rapidly due to tight deadlinesSkill in working with journalists and editors, in order to successfully pitch story ideas; Skill in developing content for social media, including but not limited to Twitter, Facebook, and/or YouTubeUse of computer-based data systems, digital and video cameras as well as some experience with photo editing software preferredThe individual must be able to provide film footage, conduct professional interviews, and provide completed professional videos 1-5 minutes long as well as provide archived video files for later useTalantage, LLC is committed to presenting candidates that contribute to an organizations culture of inclusivity and its commitment to diversity in the workplace are demonstrated through our recruitment practices.
