Technology Enhanced Education (TEE)Haslam College of BusinessRegular full time, exempt, Market Range 10FULLY REMOTEThe Haslam College of Business invites applications for an Instructional Designer in its Technology-Enhanced Education (TEE) unit.

Working closely with world-class HCB faculty, staff, students, and administrators, this position fosters a culture of innovation and supports faculty and students through the development of engaging learning activities and compelling online course content for hybrid, synchronous, and asynchronous modalities. The position works as part of the TEE team to conceptualize course material; create video modules, story boards, and graphics; and identify pedagogical needs. The ID applies proven instructional design theories, practices, and methods to develop eLearning course content and interfaces with multiple constituencies for project creation.

QualificationsResponsibilities:Create modules containing engaging learning activities and compelling online course content that enhances retention and transfer for HCB students and faculty/staff.Manage the end-to-end process of instructional design projects for faculty and instructors in the collegeCreate supporting material and media including audio, video, simulations, role plays, games, etc.Visualize and create instructional graphics, user interface, and finished product while incorporating exercises and activities that enhance the learning process.Partner with faculty and instructors to assess, evaluate, and audit current educational offerings and provide guidance on improving online course content using relevant pedagogical theory and best practices.Partner with studio and field productions for video and photography; video and photo editing; and the incorporation of VR/AR technology into classroom and faculty training experiences.Who We’re Looking ForWe are looking for a self-starter and team player who can work collaboratively across multiple departments with minimal oversight while being able to effectively communicate and address complex pedagogical issues in ever-changing online and in-person environments. Adaptability, flexibility, and innovation are key traits for this role which supports leading-edge approaches to course design and delivery especially as they relate to technology use in the classroom.Required Qualifications:Bachelor’s degree in instructional design, online education, education technology, or a related fieldMinimum two years’ experience in instructional design, education technology, or a related fieldKnowledge of and experience with content creation, editing, and teaching technologiesPreferred Qualifications:Master’s degree or higher in instructional design, online education, education technology, or a related fieldExperience in a higher education settingExperience with instructional design software and Adobe Creative Cloud softwareExperience launching online programs or developing coursework for online programsExperience with enterprise-wide learning management systemsExperience with online proctoring systemsRequired Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:Knowledge of best practices in online teaching, learning, and assessmentKnowledge of instructional design models and development methodsKnowledge of pedagogy and educational theoriesKnowledge of universal design principles (UDL) and accessibility standardsKnowledge of instructional design (like Articulate Storyline), Adobe Creative Cloud, and office productivity software toolsStrong written communication skillsAbility to apply quality course standards to online instructionAbility to analyze instruction and make development decisionsAbility to design and develop online and hybrid courses on an individual basis and with the TEE teamPreferred Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:Extensive knowledge of best practices in online teaching, learning, and assessmentExtensive knowledge of pedagogy and educational theoriesExtensive knowledge of instructional design tools like Articulate StorylineKnowledge of VR/AR and cutting-edge educational technology toolsApplication Process:The Knoxville campus of the University of Tennessee is seeking candidates who have the ability to contribute in meaningful ways to the diversity and intercultural goals of the University.
