Music Therapist

for our

Saturday Shift.

Salt Lake Behavioral Health is a private 118 bed freestanding psychiatric hospital specializing in mental health and substance abuse treatment for adolescents and adults. We serve the Salt Lake City and surrounding area using evidence-based treatments in a comfortable, confidential atmosphere. We believe in an individualized, patient-focused approach to diagnosis and treatment. For some, anxiety or drug dependence looks different from others with the same diagnoses, and in some cases, Behavioral health and substance use disorders occur simultaneously. In these cases of dual-diagnosis, we treat the patients in the best way possible given their specific case.

Music Therapist

is responsible for planning and implementing therapeutic and evidence-based Music Therapy services at Salt Lake Behavioral Health in order to meet the physical, cognitive, emotional, social and cultural needs of patients by a Board Certified Music Therapist (MT-BC). This position involves defining and implementing treatment goals as a member of the interdisciplinary treatment team and supporting patients in their mental health journey. The Music Therapist strives to build a strong therapeutic alliance through empathetic and continuous patient care, observation, interaction and role modeling to patients. The Music Therapist is responsible for conducting assessments, facilitating MT group interventions, documenting progress and discharge planning for assigned patients.

Qualifications

Education:

Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college or university in Music Therapy or Music Therapy academic equivalency required.Experience:

Minimum of one (1) year of related experience, knowledge and understanding of psychiatric patient care techniques and mental illness preferred.Licensure:

Current national certification (MT-BC) through the Certification Board for Music Therapists required. Current State Certified Music Therapist (SC-MT) through Utah DOPL required.Additional Requirements:

CPR certification is required. Mandt Training is required within 90 days. The Music Therapist must successfully complete facility-specific training for restraints and seclusions. This training must be completed within 90 days of employment and prior to assisting any patient restraints or seclusions.
