In this role as a

Music Therapist,

you will coordinate services of psychosocial support to children and families during hospitalization,

surgeries

and/or out-patient visits through promoting socialization, developing coping skills, enhancing body image and awareness, increasing self-esteem,

facilitating

positive adjustment, fostering self-expression,

maintaining

autonomy, and providing age-appropriate music therapy.Essential Job Functions:Clinical ServicesPlans, schedules, implements, and evaluates a comprehensive therapeutic music program for individuals and groupsUses music to formulate treatment goals and

facilitate

interventionsPromotes family-centered care through involvement of parents/caregivers,

siblings

and other family membersDevelops the therapeutic plan in collaboration with the patient, family, and healthcare teamEducates parents and staff to provide a therapeutic outlet for children and families.Develops relationships with families that are caring, trusting, beneficial, and professionalAdvocates for opportunities for parents/caregivers to

maintain

their parenting roleDemonstrates sensitivity to caregiver concerns and uses the caregiver as a resourceIdentifies

referrals for other team members and/or community resourcesDocuments in patient’s electronic medical record

in accordance with

department guidelineLeadership for Projects and ProgrammingProvides leadership in team meetings;

maintains

, develops, and models effective working relationships with members of the Child Life staff and the Healthcare teamAddresses

difficult situations

QualificationsBachelor's degree in music therapyCurrent professional Board Certification (MT-

BC) or

the designation of Registered, Certified or Advance Certified Music Therapist (RMT, CMT, or ACMT) by the American Music Therapy AssociationInternship in art therapy with hospitalized children and adolescents preferred1-2

years'

work experience with children and adolescentsRequires the knowledge and skills necessary to

utilize

theoretical constructs of human development for assessment and intervention for infants through teenagersDemonstrates leadership abilities with good organizational skillsInterpersonal skills needed to

establish

therapeutic relationships with children and their families, and effective communicationAnalytical skills necessary to

identify

and solve problems within a constantly changing and stressful environment

Preferred QualificationsMaster's degree in music therapy
