Your Impact:

We are currently seeking a Telecommunications Specialist to join our dynamic team in the Winchester, VA area. In this position you’ll be a part of a team that maintains and supports our customers equipment by ensuring that the telecommunications systems are fully functional. This position requires an active DoD TS/SCI security clearance that has been adjudicated in the last 5 years or designated CE and the ability to obtain and maintain special accesses.

Responsibilities:

Work as a Telecommunication Specialist in a high-tempo environment is support of a DISA SP program that provides onsite operation and maintenance (O&M) support of secure and unsecure voice, video, data systems, networks, and information systems.

Identify process improvements, efficiency gains and innovative approaches to sustainment operations to increase customer’s Delightful Customer Experience (DCE).

Conduct scheduled and unscheduled maintenance and operational testing to validate performance within prescribed standards and tolerances.

Facilitate monthly operational testing of equipment to ensure operational readiness in accordance federal and local policies.

Coordinate with internal project management teams to facilitate the design, testing, and training of new and future communications systems to meet customer needs.

Monitor and troubleshoot equipment failures; coordinates and directs system repair.

Review and interpret changes to policy doctrine and directives to determine impact to mission operations and established processes; develop, update, and maintain procedures and guidelines resulting from policy changes or new and emerging technology insertion; make recommendations; inform customer of best practices.

Certify and validate that new communication platforms are properly installed and brought on-line for operational use; coordinate installation efforts to ensure schedules are met and customer’s daily operations are not disruptive.

Develop and implement new equipment training (NET) and advanced communication equipment training to supported communication officers and internal team members in accordance to DoD and local policies.

Able to rapidly deploy as a communication support team to support the customer and other Department and Agencies (D/As) during scheduled/unscheduled exercises, visits, and emergency response events.

Assist the Logistics Manager with issuing, receiving, transportation, and inventory of equipment.

Travel as needed (10%).

Here’s what you’ll need

:

Experience installing, operating, and troubleshooting RF, SATCOM, A/V, and VTC equipment.

Experience fabricating, installing, and testing cables.

Experience with installing and troubleshooting IT devices.

Ability to lift 25-50lbs.

Clearance Required:

Active DoD TS/SCI security clearance that has been adjudicated in the last 5 years or designated CE and the ability to obtain and maintain special accesses.

Minimum Education:

Progressive relevant training and/or certification in appropriate discipline may be substituted for one (1) year of the education or experience requirement.

Minimum Years of Experience:

Three (3) years of related experience or any equivalent combination of relevant education and experience.

Preferred:

Four (4) years of college in a related technical discipline plus five (5) years of related experience or any equivalent combination of education and experience for a total of seven (7) years.

Progressive relevant training and/or certification in appropriate discipline may be substituted for two (2) years of the education or experience requirement.

CompTIA IT Security+ Certification, must be able to obtain within 9 months.

Experience as a Network and /or Systems Administrator.

Operational work experience in a military communications or electronic maintenance career field.

Experience as a COMSEC Custodian and/or COMSEC hand-receipt holder.
