The GIS Technician position is primarily responsible for data entry and data maintenance of the McKenzie County GIS system which supports workflows within multiple county departments. This position is located in Watford City, ND and scheduled for Monday - Friday. Level and salary commensurate with experience.

Essential Job Functions:

Assign 911 addresses based on local, state, and NENA standardsReview, identify, and edit GIS data that supports Public Works, Engineering, Planning and Zoning, Emergency Response, and other county departmentsAssist County staff and members of the public with varying information requests such as address verification, maps, and dataUpdate / produce cartographic procedures, maps, and other documentsAssist users with large format scans and printsSupport the use of GPS and mobile devices for field information and collectionOther duties as assigned for business needs

Minimum Qualifications:

High School Diploma or GEDAssociates degree preferred in GIS, geography, regional planning, or a degree with a minor in GIS2 years of experience editing spatial data, analysis of spatial / tabular data, and displaying related dataUnderstanding of County government functions such as 911 / emergency response, public works, planning and zoning, etc.Ability to work on several projects or requests simultaneously, with little directionExtensive knowledge of computers, computer programs, scanning equipment, plotters, and various office machinesExcellent organization skills, attention to detail, and customer serviceEffective communication skills, both verbal and writtenWillingness and desire to learn new and challenging tasksValid drivers licenseReporting to Watford City, ND office daily at the required schedule time
