is seeking a passionate and creative individual to join our team as a Digital Outreach and Graphic Design Intern. This is an unpaid internship requiring course credit.About TASSCThe Torture Abolition and Survivors Support Coalition (TASSC) International is a 501(c)(3) not-for-profit organization that provides services to survivors of torture. Our mission is to provide compassionate services that empower individuals to rebuild their lives and secure protection under international and domestic law. TASSC recognizes the psychological effects of torture and assists survivors with their immediate medical, psychological, legal, housing, and employment needs. Four programs are the cornerstones of our work and address the main areas of concern for many survivors: social, legal, career, and advocacy. TASSC’s wraparound services encourage and supplement the efforts of survivors who come to us seeking independence, self-sufficiency, and healthy futures. TASSC’s integrated services also empower survivors to become leaders in our organization and our broader community. TASSC is proud to be survivor-led, with survivors serving as Board Members and the present Executive Director. TASSC has thrived because of countless hours of volunteer work from survivors who have taken leading roles in advocacy and community support.Internship DescriptionThe Digital Outreach and Graphic Design Intern will play a crucial role in enhancing TASSC’s online presence and community engagement. This internship offers a unique opportunity to gain hands-on experience in social media and email outreach, graphic design, and nonprofit communications.The Intern will report to TASSC approximately 15 hours per week, and their internship hours will be flexible to accommodate their class schedule. The Intern will be required to report to work in person at our Washington, DC office.Goals:Develop and implement a comprehensive digital outreach strategy aligned with TASSC's mission and goals.Create engaging content, including graphics, images, and animations for various social media platforms, and presentations.Design promotional materials for events, campaigns, and other initiatives.Write and edit social media posts, blog posts, emails, and other digital content.Create, update, and maintain lists of key contacts for outreach efforts.Assist the Executive Director in improving TASSC’s visibility in the community.Collaborate with legal, social, advocacy, fundraising, and career development programs to support their outreach and communication needs.Qualifications:The Intern must be a current student at an accredited college, community college, or university with:A strong interest in social media, principles of branding and marketing, graphic design, and nonprofit work.Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.The ability to use popular design and social media management software (e.g., Canva and similar).The ability to work independently and as part of a team.The ability to write compelling copy and tell stories with impact.Strong organizational and time management skills.Creativity and a sense of humor.Professional discretion, integrity, and compassion.Commitment to social justice and the mission of TASSC.
