Job Summary

Department-Specific ResponsibilitiesWrites and edits clear, engaging marketing copy and content for print and digital media and various channels.Fact checks, proofreads, and edits.Coordinates with team to bring projects from concept to completion.Optimizes content through editing and repurposing existing materials.Manages and publishes content in IU's content management systems.Helps maintain IU's content standards, style guides, compliance, and voice and tone.Manages and implements feedback.Keeps up with copywriting and content development trends.Regularly researches relevant subject matter to increase knowledge in area(s) of specialty, including information on various marketing channels (print, online, electronic, email, social media, and direct mail).Participates in team-based marketing planning to align strategies and deadlines across various concurrent projects and initiatives.Collaborates with users of various software programs and creative platforms to create and deliver content and marketing materials in multiple formats to a variety of audiences.General ResponsibilitiesWrites and edits clear, informative written content for various communications needs, audiences, and publication formats.Independently corrects basic and complex grammar, spelling, punctuation, formatting, and syntax errors and performs edits that improve overall writing quality of communications and ensure alignment with university mission, strategies, objectives, and brand guidelines.Performs reviews of peer writing to ensure grammar, quality, tone, and level of depth are sufficient; may also review against requirements for specific publications, including content, length, brand guidelines, and deadline specifications.Regularly consults with writers, printers, faculty, staff, and/or other stakeholders to ensure adherence to writing and publications deadlines.Plans, develops, and publishes internal and external communications.Drafts sample communications to be reviewed with manager at project deadline checkpoints.Qualifications

This role requires the ability to effectively communicate and to operate a computer and other standard office productivity equipment. The position involves sedentary work as well as periods of time moving around an office environment and the campus. The person in this role must be able to perform the essential functions with or without an accommodation.
