At Reality Labs Research (RL-R), our goal is to explore, innovate and design novel interfaces and hardware subsystems for the next generation of virtual, augmented, and mixed reality experiences. As a Research Design Prototyper in Reality Labs Research, you will work closely with a team of Engineers, Designers, and Researchers to bring prototypes of emerging technologies to life. You will collaborate cross-functionally to design and build prototypes that help define the future of interaction in augmented & virtual reality. Your work will be used in user research studies, technology demos, and proof of concept prototypes. The ideal candidate is a highly creative individual who has expertise in 3D interactive experiences and proficiency in Unity and Unreal.Research Design Prototyper ResponsibilitiesEnvision, design, and develop interactive approaches that showcase research outcomes for advanced prototypes and user experiencesSupport the realization of research outcomes into Unity through reusable tools and extensible plug-insClearly articulate prototyping decisions to a vast set of internal stakeholders and contribute to strategic decisions with engineering and research teamsWrite clean readable code, contribute reusable modules, prioritize and get things done with a high level of efficiencyLearn constantly, dive into new areas with unfamiliar technologies, and embrace the ambiguity of AR/VR problem solvingMinimum Qualifications5+ years of experience in Prototyping, Game Development, or related areas3+ years experience working with Unity, including working with 3D assets and external tools (DLLs), and developing plug-ins, or equivalentPortfolio featuring examples of interaction, prototype, and/or design workExperience building and iterating on prototypes in short design cyclesExperience leading projects in multi-disciplinary collaborationsPreferred QualificationsExperience with Unreal Engine, or other 3D prototyping toolsExperience working with research scientistsStrong understanding of the principles of human-centered designExperience with hardware prototyping (e.g. Arduino, Raspberry Pi, BeagleBoard)
