The Opportunity:

The Web Developer consults with clients and other project team members to design, build, and manage institutional websites as well as develops installation programs for these websites.

Nature of WorkThe Web Developer is a professional level position responsible for designing, developing, supporting, and maintaining web pages and website(s) for an academic or administrative area to which assigned. This position works closely with faculty or administrators in the assigned area to assess their needs and to provide advice and consultation. Job responsibilities require a thorough knowledge of both graphic design and computer programming concepts, practices, and procedures. Work is performed under immediate supervision working within guidelines or traditional practice. This position exercises judgment in prioritizing, planning, and organizing own work within time, process, and results requirements; has some flexibility to modify workflow based on need and circumstances.

Examples of Duties• Designs, codes, and modifies, and maintains websites, from layout to function and according to a client's specifications.• Works closely with administrative and academic offices to plan and implement web enterprise system capabilities that will enhance services for the students, faculty, and staff.• Writes and edits web content.• Creates website layout/user interface by using standard HTML/CSS practices.• Writes well designed, testable, and efficient code by using best software development practices.• Troubleshoots technical and non-technical issues.• Gathers, refines, and determines specifications and requirements based technical needs.• Strives to create visually appealing sites that feature user-friendly design and clear navigation.• Evaluates accessibility and usability concerns related to web-based applications, and executes improvements.• Creates and maintains software documentation and back up files.• May assist in updating institutional social networking sites such as Facebook, Twitter, and YouTube.• Performs regular content updates to existing web-based applications.• Performs other job related duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualification RequirementsThis position requires a Bachelor's degree in information Technology, Graphic Design, UX/UI Design, or other directly related field, with 2-3 years if progressively responsible work experience in web design and development.
