Marketing Specialist

to:Direct and coordinate the promotion/marketing activities and the daily business activities of the SC Farm to School Program to include developing goals in conjunction with participating stakeholders to increase the farms selling product to schools, invoice payments, monthly newsletters, webpage information requests, monitor associated grant activities and attend meetings and conferences.Function as the SC Specialty Crop Growers Association Executive Director by providing marketing services and administrative support to facilitate marketing opportunities for these growers. Duties include planning and executing the annual meeting, election of directors and officers, and attending meetings. Also responsible for various communications to include creating and managing a monthly newsletter, work to provide opportunities to further promote, market and increase sales of specialty crops in SC. Research, write/apply for and manage grants in collaboration with SCDA's grants program area.Serve as Point-of-Contact for all South Carolina Community-Based Farmers Markets and related programming. Maintain a data base of all SC community-based farmers markets. Maintain the community-based farmers market website. Work with farmers markets on promotional activities. Serve as primary agency resource for all community-based farmers market activities.Serve as the Executive Director of the SC Association of Farmers Markets. Maintain a database of all SCAFM members. Work with the Board of Directors to carry out initiatives, hold quarterly meetings, and ensure compliance with board bylaws. Assist SCAFM board in planning annual SCAFM conference.Assist in SCDA marketing projects and programs as directed by Director of Marketing. Programs include, but are not limited to, branding, market development, commodities, and agritourism.Serve as the program coordinator of the Senior Farmers Market Nutrition Program in conjunction with a partner agency to authorize farmers to accept Senior Vouchers at approved farmers markets, roadside stands, and mobile markets.Serve as Point-of-Contact for all SC Community Based Farmers Markets and related programming.

Function as the executive director of the SC Association of Farmers Markets, to include making deposits, paying expenditures, assisting with events and annual meetings, reconciling bank statements, and maintaining databases.

Minimum and Additional Requirements

A bachelor's degree;An understanding of general agricultural production or marketing.; andValid driver's license and ability to operate a vehicle.Preferred Qualifications

Meeting management and experience working with a Board of Directors.Work experience in field of agriculture.Additional Comments

Must be able to communicate effectively both orally and in writing.Ability to multi-task with several on-going projects and meet deadlines.Ability to work with farm producers, other agencies, and general public in a professional manner.Working knowledge of MS Office and Outlook computer programs is required.Attention to detail and organization skills are a must.Must be able to stand for extended periods of time and lift 25 lbs. & properly erect, dismantle, & package a booth/exhibition display.Requires ability to stand for long periods of time.This is a fast-paced environment with extensive in-state travel and occasional out- of-state travel.POSITION NOTE:

This position is primary based at SCDA's headquarters on the campus of the statehouse grounds. Frequent in-state day travel is required with access to fleet vehicles.
