Position Overview:
The
Telecommunications Foreman
is responsible for planning, organizing, and scheduling.crews to complete assigned work orders, including assigning tasks, assuring the work is beinginstalled in a high-quality manner and performing quality inspections. This individual willmonitor task completion, compliance and prevent safety issues.
The
Telecommunications Foreman
will have technical knowledge & working experience in theinstallation of Telecommunication Systems including Fiber Optic & Structured Cabling, CCTV,OSP & ISP Copper, along with DAS.
In a manufacturing environment, this position is responsible for the working installation &leading project team in the manufacture of assemblies supporting telecommunications cabling,and equipment in accordance with all applicable plans, specifications, codes, and industrystandards.
The position is located at M. C. Dean modular construction facility in
Charlotte, NC.Employees report to the same location daily on a fixed schedule unless a situation dictatesotherwise.
Position Requirements:
Responsibilities included, but not limited to:• Knowledge and Safe Use of hand tools and various power tools• Wearing of required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE)• Following Safety Policies and Procedures• Actively Participating in Daily Safety and Work briefings.• Installation various types of Low Voltage Cable• Must be able to understand scheduling and it's importance.
• Managing small to large sized projects of 5 or more persons
• Help run the day-to-day operations under Superintendents guidance.
• Implement high level of safety, quality, and production on the project.
• Be able to read and interpret drawings. Understand and implement pathway installation, including conduit and cable tray.
• Must be able to work with other trades to coordinate installation, work with GC and Customer at a high level
• Conferring with senior management, supervisory personnel to resolve matters such aswork procedures, complaints, and construction problems.• Scheduling the project in logical steps to budget enough time required to meet deadlines.• Interpreting and explaining plans to field workers.• Terminating, testing, troubleshooting of Low Voltage Cabling (Fiber Optics, Cat 5, Cat• Installation and assembly of various pathways and cable tray
• Installation and assembly of various Telecommunications Devices• Installation of Prefabricated Components and Assemblies.• Installation of Telecommunications Grounding Systems• Cable Foreman need to be able to train and supervise technicians/apprentices in a teamenvironment to facilitate installing cable from Telecommunication Rooms (TR) to workarea outlets (WAO) while following drawings and run lists to ensure cables are installedmethodically and arranged in proper bundles at TR for ease of dressing and termination.• Cable Foreman need to be able to perform Quality assurance checks of their team's workensuring cable install is performed within all applicable requirements.• Maintain a clean work area and participate in job site cleanup.• Securing company tools and materials daily
Qualifications / Skills Sets / Expectations:
• 6 years prior experience in commercial communications/ Construction industry• High School diploma or GED is required.• Possesses a valid driver's license and satisfactory driving record. This position may require ongoing or intermittent use of a company vehicle. Selected candidates must possess an acceptable driving record in accordance to our policy.
• Successfully pass a background check and drug test• Have reliable transportation to and from the jobsite• Ability to pass basic telecommunication knowledge test• Consistently report to work on time, work well with other to accomplish a common goaland maintain a safe work environment.• Wear long pants and a shirt that covers the shoulders by six (6) inches. These are notprovided by the Company.• Provide basic tools from provided tool list prior to 1st day of employment.Desired Skills:• Experience with Microsoft Office applications.
Physical Abilities:
• Lifts at least 100 pounds at one time and 60 pounds for an extended period.• Relocates a 12-foot stepladder without assistance.• Works at various heights up to 60 feet and can climb and maintain balance on scaffolds,aerial lifts, catwalks, and all types of ladders.• Walks, climbs, lifts, squats, crawls, kneels, pushes, pulls, and reaches overhead on aroutine and repetitive basis.• Possess good vision (may be corrected vision), the ability to see in color, and the abilityto hear and communicate in English.• May use a standard ladder without exceeding the weight limit while carrying tools.• Tell when something is wrong or is likely to go wrong. It does not involve solving theproblem, only recognizing there is a problem.• Apply general rules to specific problems to produce answers that make sense.• Combine pieces of information to form general rules or conclusions (including finding arelationship among seemingly unrelated events).• See details at close range (within a few feet of the observer).• Listen to and understand information and ideas presented through spoken words andsentences.
