Summary

Adjunct Professor of Applied Music - Percussion/Drums and Music Theory

Adjunct Music professor for private Applied lessons on percussion to music majors as well as basic percussion to non-music majors. Undergraduate music theory duties are also expected.

The major in Music develops performance skills through applied lessons, directed coursework, and ensemble and stage experience. This is complemented by studies in the Liberal Arts.

Music majors are given professional training and musical skills with an emphasis on performance.

Non-music majors are taught basic percussion that may entail both classical and folk/popular music as an "enrichment" course elective.

Essential Functions

Deliver private lessons in a clear and effective manner.

Create a unified comprehensive syllabus and customized lessons to suit individual student's needs.

Create, administer, and evaluate exams, papers and/or projects, attend Juries

Respond to student questions and/or issues

Qualifications/Requirements

A Master's degree in Music is required. Educational requirements can be substituted by an earned 18 graduate-level credits in music that may supplement a completed with real-world music performance experience.

A minimum of 1-3 years of related experience.

Must have experience using CANVAS

Ability to deliver material in a clear and effective manor in a way that students are able to grasp and comprehend.

Ability to create, administer and evaluate exams, papers and/or projects
