WHAT WE CAN ACHIEVE TOGETHER The Graphic Designer manages and executes the Conservancy's brand identity system by executing or contributing to creative projects. The Graphic Designer manages and executes the Conservancy's brand identity system by executing or contributing to creative projects. They will work with the Midwest storytelling team to apply The Nature Conservancy's brand identity and visual vocabulary. This is a hands-on position for a creative, conceptual thinker ready to define and execute an artistic vision from start to finish. They will also contribute to other creative projects. Occasional travel is needed. The Graphic Designer is a key member of the Midwest Storytelling team and works primarily to: Design smart, thoughtful, and compelling concepts for all aspects of the organization. Design, direct, research, and manage graphics, layouts, and art production. Develop and maintain the Conservancy's brand visual vocabulary. Meet frequent photography, production, and copy deadlines. As the Graphic Designer, you will: Organize, manage, and coordinate diverse projects and activities with many variables. Coordinate the work of peers on departmental project teams. May supervise volunteers, interns, contractors or temporary staff. Work within a budget to complete a project. Perform duties under general supervision and established guidelines. Act independently on assigned tasks and projects. May have full opportunity to direct individual projects. Clearly and effectively present work, communicate vision and negotiate feedback with project stakeholders. WE'RE LOOKING FOR YOU The ideal candidate will have all or some of these qualifications. If you don't have all of them, apply anyway and tell us about your skills and experience: 5 years of experience in a design studio, agency, or in-house creative department. Experience preparing files for production, marking up color for correction, and reviewing proofs. Has a portfolio demonstrating a sophisticated, conceptual design sensibility and a strong sense of typography. Strong, modern approach to typography and design (for both print and digital). Strong awareness of current design trends, photographers, and illustrators. Emphasis on a high level of design sophistication and meticulous attention to detail. Keen eye for photography and illustration and exceptional typography skills. Experience in designing for the Web and a basic understanding of HTML, CSS, and JavaScript. bility to translate print graphics to web, and vice versa. Expert-level knowledge of Adobe CC. Strong familiarity with print production. Must be independent and well organized with a blend of technical and conceptual skills. Should thrive in an energetic environment and have the ability to make judgment calls and to respond tactfully in all situations. Understanding of motion graphics or video editing a major plus. Experience with presentation software such as PowerPoint and Keynote. Demonstrated ability to work in a team-based environment with internal and external partners. Demonstrated ability to conceive and write creatively for various audiences from technical information. Practical knowledge of marketing and branding principles. Experience presenting and articulating design solutions to clients. Multi-lingual skills appreciated. Multi-cultural or cross-cultural experience preferred. WHAT YOU'LL BRING Bachelor's degree in related field and 5 years' related experience or equivalent combination of education and experience. Experience cultivating and managing client/customer relationships. Experience writing, editing and proofreading. Experience organizing and coordinating multiple projects. SALARY INFORMATION The starting pay range for a candidate selected for this position is generally within the range of $57,120.00 - $77,616.00 for annual base salary. This range only applies to candidates whose country of employment is the USA. Where a successful candidate's actual pay will fall within this range will be based on a variety of factors, including, for example, the candidate's location, qualifications, specific skills, and experience. Please note countries outside the USA would have a different pay range in the local currency based on the local labor market, and not tied to USA pay or ranges.
