Overview of the United Soccer League (USL)

The United Soccer League (USL) is the heartbeat of American soccer. Impacting more than 200 communities across the United States, the USL is the first and only soccer organization in the United States to build a youth-to-professional pathway for both men and women within one ecosystem. That structure includes three professional leagues: USL Super League (women), USL Championship (men), and USL League One (men); two pre-professional leagues: USL League Two (men) and the USL W League (women); and two youth platforms: USL Academy and USL Youth.

Authentic, vital, and exciting, the USL is dedicated to providing an inclusive and memorable soccer experience for players, fans, and communities across our growing "soccer nation."

Position Purpose

The VP/Director of Marketing will be responsible for leading, developing and executing brand marketing strategies and activations. Specifically working with internal departments, external agencies and partners, spearheading all the advertising and promotional campaigns for the club.

Duties and Responsibilities

Duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

Develop and implement strategic marketing plans to achieve annual sales goals.Manage game presentation and work closely with operations staff to ensure all consumer facing marketing and brand elements are presented appropriately.Lead, manage, and create a plan for the entire marketing staff (Traditional Media, Social Media, PR).Collaborate with the sales team to create campaigns focused on both growing the new Season Ticket Member base, retention, group, advance, theme, and walk up tickets.Plan and oversee advertising and promotional campaigns which may include TV, radio, print, social and digital marketing in an effort to ultimately drive sales and increase brand affinity.Maintain consistent oversight and awareness of campaign results and proactively take corrective action, as needed, to optimize results.Evaluate market trends and adjust strategies to adapt to the changing market and competitive conditions.Be a liaison with Partnership Sales and Partnership Marketing to ensure the organization's partners are supporting sales through internal and external partner distribution channels.Collaborate with senior management to ensure all creative assets properly reflect the brand and are consistent with marketing and sales objectives.Work with the all other departments to ensure cross-platform execution.Collaboratively support community initiatives.Maintain thorough knowledge of the competitive landscape and the brand's competing strengths, weaknesses and market position.Develop and motivate team members.Other duties/responsibilities as assigned.Please Note: This is for future opportunities with USL member clubs. Bachelor's Degree from a 4-year college or university or equivalent experience/combined education.Sports and entertainment industry experience highly preferred.At least 4+ years of experience within the sports, entertainment, advertising agency or media industries.At least 4+ years of experience working with media agency to coordinate delivering creative assets in accordance with media plans.At least 2-4 years of direct supervisory experience.Ability to lead within a fast-paced environment and deliver amidst demanding timelines.Experience leading marketing and media agencies.Ability to organize and oversee multiple priorities and projects simultaneously.Extensive understanding of creative production processes.Extensive experience developing digital and social creative solutions.Strong problem solving, decision making and analytical skills.Demonstrated understanding of how marketing, creative, and media work seamlessly to help brands succeed.Exceptionally strong interpersonal and communication skills.Independent, self-motivated and creative.Must have U.S. work authorization.Please Note: This is for future opportunities with USL member clubs.
