The Role & Responsibilities

Be a professional solutioneer, finding the right floor for the customer.

Be a positive business and relationship-oriented ambassador to our business.

Arrive on time and professionally represent FCI on all appointments in your Mobile Showroom to demonstrate Mobile Collection items (requires lifting 40 lbs.)

Write flooring proposals using Floor Coverings International’s proprietary estimating software, working to close every potential job as quickly as possible.

Use the Inspired Sales process, associated technology, and weekly practice sessions to execute effective closing strategies that will lead to profitable sales at an acceptable closing rate.

Set proper, manageable client expectations on product performance and looks, installation dates, installation process, proper maintenance practices, etc.

Follow up on current leads to convert to appointments, assertively follow up with outstanding estimates, and rejuvenate old leads and estimates to generate new work.

Maintain relationships with current clients and identify and develop relationships with new clients, i.e., Friends, neighbors, and co-workers of FCI clients.

Attend BNI networking group on behalf of Floor Coverings International. Utilize other networking tactics and groups to advance lead flow.

Prospecting will be necessary during slow periods to achieve weekly estimate goals.

Working with the Project Coordinator, warehouse staff, co-workers, and management to ensure products are installed on time. This involves visiting most installations and assisting the Project Coordinator with final walk-throughs of your jobs.

Keep current on products in the showroom and trends in the flooring industry.

Help keep showroom and office organized and presentable

Attend weekly Goal Setting and Review (GSR) meetings with the Owner at the scheduled time.

Make decisions and act in accordance with FCI’s core values and mission.

Key Performance Indicators

PPW – Proposals per Week. Write at least six (6) or more flooring proposals per week.

CPPW – Closed proposals per week of 3

CR – Close Rate. Close rate of 40%

GM – Gross Margin +50%

MAJP– Monthly Average Job Price >$7,200

PRPM – Positive reviews per month > 8

COPM – Closed Organic Proposals per Month >40% (BNI, Referrals, Networking)

CSAT – Customer Satisfaction > 95%

Experience, Skills & Abilities

5-10 years of in-home sales

Knowledge of flooring industry

Clean driving record (insurable, as you’ll be driving a mobile showroom)

Able to clearly communicate value proposition

Self-starter, able to generate new leads in the community

Solution oriented, loves serving customers and solving their problems

Technology savvy, as this is important to becoming the best in SoCal

Thorough, with great follow-up and followthrough – always closes the loop

Attentive, perceptive and able to accommodate customers

Work Hours

We need to be available for our customers. Your scheduling is flexible, but you must generally be available during regular business hours. You must keep your schedule updated in our operating systems so we can appropriately schedule your appointments as necessary.

You will be performing in-home flooring estimates requiring you to operate your Mobile Showroom during daytime, evening, and weekend hours when clients are usually home. Evening appointments can be at 4:00, 5:00, or 6:00, depending on customer needs, lasting between 1-3 hours. Most weeks will consist of 2-4 evening appointments. Saturday and Sunday appointments may also be necessary to fulfill your weekly estimate and income goals. You will be required to prospect for new work. However, most of this prospecting will occur during regular business hours.

Home Shows

Floor Coverings International Mission Viejo participates in 3-6 “Home Improvement Shows” and other annual local events. These usually occur at typical trade venues, such as convention centers in Orange County. Your attendance at these shows is essential to generate valuable leads and answer the general public's questions about our products and services. These shows generally begin at 10:00 am, end at 8:00 pm, and run on Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays.

Training Plan

Floor Coverings International will provide a complete training program to equip you to perform the role successfully and thoroughly. Your training will involve travel to training events at the company's expense. Design Associate Training will take place within the first 90 days.

Design Associate Compensation Plan (Could be W-2 or 1099)

Salary: Commensurate with experience

Commission Override: Once you have reached your monthly quota of produced sales, commissioned pay will begin. Your commissions will be calculated at the end of each month from computerized reports that show which projects have been invoiced. You are responsible for providing a commission report for the previous months' commissions by the 5th day of each month.

Draw: to be negotiated

Bonus: Performance bonuses will be offered each quarter, depending on business profitability. The details of the program are under development.

Payroll: Payroll is run on the 1st and the 15th of each month, and earnings are deposited directly into an account of your choosing. Salaried earnings will be paid half of your monthly salary each pay period. Commissions will be paid on the 15th of each month after the manager approves your commission report.

Retirement Funding (W-2 only): Floor Coverings International is developing a retirement program that includes a company match if you choose to participate.

Health Insurance (W-2 only): Floor Coverings International will offer health insurance benefits.

Paid Time Off: You will be allocated 21-days of flex time off per year. Floor Coverings International also observes the following holidays and will not conduct business on them: Memorial Day, July 4th, Labor Day, Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve and Day, and New Year’s Eve and Day.
