Product Design Intern

Classmates is seeking a passionate and creative Product Design Intern to join our dynamic team. The intern will work closely with product managers and design lead to review existing user experiences, assist in the creation of our Design Library, and contribute to the development of product UI/UX mockups and designs.

Launched in 1995, Classmates.com is an original Seattle area startup. For over 25 years, Classmates has operated as the leading online social network service in the United States for bringing high school alumni together. Classmates serves over 70 million members and enables its users to find and reconnect with high school friends. In addition to facilitating connections with high school friends, Classmates also features the largest library of digitized yearbooks available anywhere on the Internet, to help members reconnect, reminisce, engage, and plan reunions with alumni.

ResponsibilitiesCollaborate with team members to review and improve existing user experiences.Assist in the creation and maintenance of Design Library.Contribute to the development of product UI/UX mockups and designs.Perform user research to understand user needs and industry trends, including analyzing customer feedback, conducting user testing, and facilitating small focus groups and interviews.The role includes opportunities to define user goals, personas, journey maps, and designing wireframes and prototypes to visualize and communicate user flows.Requirements

Actively pursuing a bachelor's degree, certificate or training in UI/UX design, visual communication, or a related field.Available to work 20 hours per week.Relevant skills and/or coursework in UI/UX design, Interaction Design, User Experience Design.Proficiency in Figma is preferred but experience with Sketch, Adobe Creative Suite, or similar will be considered. An interest or experience in design systems is a plus.A plus: Interest or experience in design systems and an understanding of social media platforms and their specific design requirements.Competencies

Strong skills in product design, visual design, or UX writing.Ability to visualize research findings (e.g., slides, diagrams, data) to support product vision and goals.Attention to detail and a keen eye for design and usability.Positive attitude and ability to collaborate with product managers and stakeholders to understand requirements, user needs, and business objectives.Benefits

Compensation:

$18.00 to $25.00 an hour

Workdays:

2-3 days a week in the Bellevue, WA office

Hours:

May not exceed 8 hours per day or 20 hours per week

Work schedule will be determined by selected student intern candidate and the hiring manager

Duration:

3-6 months

Chris Miller, Sr. Director of Product

The pay range reflects the salary amount the Company reasonably expects to pay for the position. It is not a guarantee of actual compensation or a specific payment amount to any candidate. The actual compensation will depend on numerous factors including, without limitation, a particular candidate’s experience, and qualifications.
