Position Description and Key Mindsets

Mindful Life Project (MLP) is building capacity and is seeking a Development and Marketing Manager who has a passion for and closely aligns with MLP's mission of transforming school communities from the inside out through mindfulness-based social-emotional learning. The person in this position will have a background of non-profit or for-profit fundraising and marketing and operate with an entrepreneurial mindset. They will use expert communication skills and a spirit of creativity to create and distribute MLP messaging and storytelling through a variety of mediums, on numerous platforms, and to diverse audiences. The person in this role will have experience conducting prospect research, writing grant applications and other development materials, building relationships with and stewarding donors, and planning and executing fundraising campaigns. They will support in identifying and cultivating new funding sources and in fostering networks and connections that will enable MLP to deepen and expand its philanthropic opportunities in its current geographic areas of work and in projected regions of expansion. They will demonstrate a keen sense of initiative, embrace and appreciate diversity, and embody a team-first attitude.

Summary of Job Responsibilities

Development

In collaboration with the Senior Director of Development and Marketing and the Executive Director, develop and execute MLP's fundraising plans and strategiesAdhere to organizational annual development plan and ensure that Development and Marketing Manager's fundraising goals are met quarterly and annuallyMaintain MLP's grants calendar, track due dates and funding cycles, and manage full grant application processes from start to finish; ensuring compliance with funders' requirementsWrite, and support the writing of, development content and communications (including, but not limited to, letters of intent/interest, full grant proposal, progress and final reports for foundations, organizational reports on work and impact, etc.)Identify and conduct prospect research on potential individual, foundation, and corporate donors to secure a consistent pipeline of new funding sourcesSimultaneously cultivate relationships with existing donors and initiate relationship-building with new funders through email, phone, Zoom, in-person meetings, networking events, etc.Conceptualize, plan, implement, oversee, and execute fundraising campaigns (including Giving Tuesday year-end giving appeals, etc.) and eventsMaintain strict confidentiality of donor informationUse online design platforms (specifically Canva) to help visualize data in creative and easy-to-read ways to share program outcomes with donors (and other audiences)Other duties as needed/assignedMarketing

Effectively convey the organization's mission, vision, and programs to myriad audiences through written and verbal communicationsSupport the creation and implementation of external communications plans and strategies to build awareness of MLP's work and programsContinue to strengthen a cohesive MLP brand identity through established guidelines.Manage all of MLP's social media platforms; generate and gather new content for social media platforms on a consistent basis; develop and implement posting schedules that are aligned with MLP's organization-wide marketing planOversee MLP's awareness- and engagement-building efforts through all of the organization's channels, including social media, print outlets, videos, newsletters, etc.Facilitate and maintain internal and external communications with co-workers, donors, affiliates, vendors, business contacts, and other stakeholdersEngage with staff and partner schools' teachers and administrators to gather materials about MLP's school-based programming; ensure all media/marketing release forms are available, completed, collected, and stored appropriatelyOther duties as needed/assignedSkills

Ability to articulate MLP's mission, program work, and strategic planCreative, personable, and detail-oriented individualSuperior communications skills, both verbal and writtenAbility to write and work in a fast-paced environment and under tight deadlines while maintaining attention to detail and ensuring accuracyPossess strong organizational and information management skillsAbility to multitask, track multiple due dates and deadlines, and strategically manage competing priorities in line with key objectives and desired resultsKnowledge of and ability to use and train others on development and marketing dashboards (Instrumentl, Candid, Salesforce, Google Analytics, etc.) and design software (Canva)Successful in building strong relationships among team members; ability and willingness to work strategically, collaboratively, and thoughtfullyAbility to carry up to 20 lbs. of equipment when necessarySalary

This position is a full-time exempt position with a salary range of $76,000 - $80,000 dependent on experience.

Education

Bachelor's degree required

Experience

Minimum of 3 years of relevant experience in development and marketing; experience writing grant materials, managing the full process of grant application, and building and maintaining relationships with prospects, donors, and other stakeholders
