Exhibit Designer

Reports To:

Manager of Creative Art & Design

Compensation:

$25.19 - $26.44 per hour

Position Summary:

The Exhibit Designer acts in all facets of exhibit creation, from concept development to prototyping and installation, working with teams including scientists, artists, curators, educators, and designers as well as the research, development, interpretation and writing of permanent and temporary exhibitions and interactives.

Qualifications :Bachelor's degree in design, or related fieldExperience in the development of exhibits for aquariums, zoos, or museums preferredCritical Skills/Competencies:

Ability to deliver consistent high-quality designs on time and under demanding deadlinesCreate interactive, and exhibit designs that are consistent with LLPA's style guideWork in multiple media formats, including; print, digital, and videoAbility to work on projects independently, as well as the as part of a team on larger design projectsStrong working knowledge of The Adobe Creative SuiteExperienced and well versed in the principles of designAbility to follow art directionExperience in interactive exhibit development and prototypingAble to take an idea from concept through production to installationProven ability to communicate complex ideas with a wide range of audiencesBasic understanding of Sketchup, and AutoCADAttention to detailHigh energy, initiative and a sense of urgencyCommitment to nature, conservation, and community improvementExperience in the fabrication and theming of exhibits and interactive displaysEssential Duties and Responsibilities:

Develop original content for temporary and permanent exhibits and interactivesParticipate in, and lead exhibit concept development for exhibitions & interactivesParticipate as the primary exhibit content developer for interactivesConduct primary topic research and develop Content Resource Documentation for in house developed displaysResearch, and design exhibit signage, visitor handouts and other exhibition interpretation materialsResearch, develop and prototype exhibit interactivesAssist with the design and theming of exhibits and exhibit galleriesAdhere to safety protocols and employee guidelinesOther projects as assigned by the Director of Creative Design and ExhibitsPhysical Demands of the Job:

This opportunity requires long periods of sitting, standing, crouching, kneeling, lifting, and walkingMust be able to lift 50 lbs.Special Working Conditions:
