Job Description:

This position reports to the Unemployment Insurance Division located in Columbia. The incumbent will play a key role in ensuring the efficient administration of South Carolina law and preserving the integrity of the UI trust fund. UI Tax Field Auditors conduct complex audits and investigations of employers' financial records to ensure that employers are properly reporting employee wages as required by law. Auditors prepare formal audit reports that form the basis of administrative determinations, and provide sworn testimony, as needed, to defend Agency decisions. Auditors also assist South Carolina businesses by making site visits and advising employers, accountants, and attorneys on the requirements of South Carolina's UI tax laws. The successful candidate is a self-motivated and detailed oriented individual with experience in auditing or accounting with a proven ability to work independently.

Minimum and Additional Requirements

A bachelor's degree and relevant training and experience; OR any equivalent combination of education, relevant training and experience sufficient to perform the essential functions of the position.

Preferred Qualifications

Bachelor's degree with considerable knowledge of accounting and auditing practices.
