The Instructional Multimedia Strategist role will have extensive experience using a variety of tools across multiple mediums to produce high-quality video, audio, graphics, and animation. They should demonstrate proficiency in software for video editing, sound design, graphic creation, and animation, showcasing their ability to create engaging and educational multimedia content. An ideal candidate possesses a strong understanding of documentary style filming/editing techniques and aesthetic judgment.

This position is based out of the university's home office in Albany, NY with the option of considering remote candidates. Remote employees will have mandatory occasional travel for meetings, conferences, and professional development opportunities. Remote employees are expected to be available during work hours 8:30 am - 5:00 pm Eastern time. The University will supply necessary equipment to perform the essential functions of this job (e.g., Laptop, docking station). Employees are responsible for having a workspace where they can participate in virtual meetings without multiple interruptions and noise.

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Design and implement instructional presentations, videos, animations, and graphics to support and augment student learning.• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to develop multimedia design and implementation strategies.• Create compelling and informative data visualizations that effectively communicate information and ideas to a target audience.• Elevate video quality through the application of visual effects, transitions, meticulous color correction, and other enhancements for visual refinement.• Write succinct technical documentation to help faculty and colleagues create compelling media assets.• Edit audio files to reduce external noise and cut superfluous content for interactive presentations, podcasts, and other audio-centered media content• Translate project requirements and instructional storyboards into high-fidelity mockups and functional prototypes for various media projects.• Develop use cases and lead design efforts for new forms of interactive and immersive learning products.• Collaborate with faculty and instructional designers to design, develop, and implement media production plans.

• Associate degree in a closely related field (video/audio design, multimedia design), or an equivalent combination of education and experience• Demonstrate project and time management skills to work in a flexible team setting, requiring both independent work and team-based collaboration• Demonstrated proficiency in Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator, After Effects, Premiere Pro, and Audition; willingness to work with and research emerging technologies• Experience in media planning and production, specializing in storyboarding, audio production, and comprehensive post-production, including video editing, to craft polished and engaging motion graphics• Proven ability to effectively manage multiple intricate multimedia projects simultaneously• Experience solving complex, ambiguous problems involving multiple stakeholders and systems

Preferred Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in motion graphics, multimedia design, visual communications, or a related field of study and at least two years of work experience• Understand and proficient in graphic design principles including typography, user-interface layout, color theory, and composition• Experience collaborating within higher education settings and engaging closely with faculty• Experience writing and editing basic HTML to create well-structured and visually appealing web content• Experience in ADA compliance, WCAG 3, universal design, inclusion in online learning, and best practices in media usage for adult online learning• Experience designing videos, narrated presentations and graphics to support and augment instructional value to courses

The hiring salary range for this position is $60,000.00 - $65,000.00. The hiring salary range above represents the University's good faith estimate at the time of posting.
