be attained within one year of employment and maintained during the applicants employment: Georgia Crime Information Center (GCIC)/National Crime Information Center (NCIC) Certification (1), Emergency Medical Dispatch (EMD) Certification (1), Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) Certification (1), Georgia Peace Officer Standards and Training (POST) Certification (3), and National Incident Management System (NIMS) courses (1).

Specific Knowledge, Skills, or Abilities : Must be able to demonstrate proficiency in performance of the essential functions and learn, comprehend, and apply all county or departmental policies, practices, and procedures necessary to function effectively in the position.

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:

All applicants must consent to and successfully pass a background investigation, critical assessment, psychological evaluation, physical/drug screening, and polygraph to be considered for employment with the Fulton County Department of Emergency Services.

Must be at least eight-teen (18) years of age. Must conform to the following qualifications as required by the Georgia Peace Officer Standards and Training Act: Be a citizen of the United States; Have a high school diploma or its recognized equivalent (G.E.D.).

Ability to type at a speed of not less than 25 net words per minute.Incumbent works within a 24-hour, seven (7) days a week operation and performs shift work as required which includes working holidays and weekends.

Not have been convicted by any state or the federal government of any crime, the punishment for which could have been imprisonment in a federal or state prison or institution; nor have been convicted of sufficient misdemeanors to establish a pattern of disregard for the law, provided that, for the purposes of this paragraph, violations of traffic laws and other offenses involving the operation of a motor vehicle when the applicant has received a pardon shall not be considered.RECRUITMENT INFORMATION:During the recruitment process, candidates will be scheduled by the Talent Acquisition Team to take the CritiCall, 911 dispatch and data entry proficiency assessment. Applicants will also be scheduled for a two (2) hour shadow session in the Operations Center observing the duties of an E911 Communications Officer.

EXAMINATION:The examination will consist of a review of education and experience, accomplished by analysis of the application. Purpose of Classification:

The purpose of this classification is to perform duties related to answering and processing emergency and non-emergency calls through the 911 communications system in the Department of Emergency Services. Responsibilities include answering calls from the general public, entering information into the Computer Aided Dispatch (CAD). This classification is distinguished from the E911 Communications Officer II in that this class answers calls only from the general public through the 911 telephone system, whereas the latter answers calls from service providers, such as Police, Fire, Emergency Medical Services, Sheriff, Marshal, and Georgia Crime Information Center (GCIC) law enforcement agencies.

Essential Functions:The following duties are normal for this position. The omission of specific statements of the duties does not exclude them from the classification if the work is similar, related, or a logical assignment for this classification. Other duties may be required and assigned.

Answers incoming emergency and non-emergency voice, text to 9-1-1 police, fire, emergency medical, and Telecommunication Device for the Deaf (TDD) calls from the public: determines nature of call and correct signal and/or code; assigns priority to calls; simultaneously enters information into the Computer Aided Dispatch (CAD) System; and advises supervisors of all priority calls.

Provides lifesaving and pre-arrival instructions to callers in emergency medical situations, remains available to callers while units are in route, and checks medical status.

Monitors and processes alarm calls and maintains report logs; receives, processes and relays emergency/non-emergency information received from Fulton County Alarm Board; silence audible alarm; notifies affected jurisdiction & location of alarm; records incident operator number, reference number, alarm resets, and/or Security or ARO's

Coordinates services with the Fire and Police Departments and with Emergency Medical Services.

Identifies incorrect or outdated information contained in the CAD: completes update form for changes of street names and/or addresses: and submits to supervision for verification

Answers emergency and non-emergency calls using a Telecommunications Device for the Deaf (TDD).

Additional Functions:Performs other related duties as required.
