Qualifications:

College degree and 3-5 years technical theater experience required; positive, team-player with excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills; experience and operational knowledge of production software (e.g. QLab, ProPresenter) and production boards (e.g. SSL sound boards, GrandMA and ETC lighting boards); experience in lighting design, rigging implementation; carpentry and scenic design skills; knowledge of theater industry safety standards, rules, and regulations; knowledge of stage management principles and practices; strong time-management and organizational skills; availability to work varied hours in a school environment subject to constant change; pedagogical skills a plus; must be flexible; must be a committed follower of Christ.

Job Description:

Responsible for the daily technical operations of the Murray Arts Center (MAC), including but not limited to lighting, set design and construction, and coordinating technical maintenance of performing arts spaces in the center. Under supervision of the Director of Arts and the MAC and in high collaboration with the MAC staff (audio engineer and events manager), the TD helps coordinate and manage independent contract theater tech workers; works closely with production teams for internal and external events; coordinates stage crews for internal and external events.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

Lifting equipment, boxes, and other packages not exceeding 50 lbs (males) and 25 lbs (females); boxes heavier than 50 pounds should be lifted while wearing a back brace; excellent cognitive and hearing abilities.

Requirements

Responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:

• Accept the work at Mount Paran Christian School as a personal calling and identify themselves as ministers of the gospel of Jesus Christ.

• Provide technical support for all school-sponsored and school-related events in the performing arts center, including weekly chapels, tech rehearsals, and off-campus performances

• Maintain inventory of all technical equipment, supplies, and resources; purchasing technical supplies as needed with approval of MAC Executive Director

• Maintain and operate scene shop, including tools, stage machinery; and training/supervision of stage and shop personnel and parent volunteers in the use of shop equipment and machinery

• Adhere and uphold safe work practices and procedures

• Oversee the technical aspects of theater facilities, including event load-in, set-up, strike, and use of the facility's lighting, stage, and other technical equipment and systems

• Recruit, organize, manage, and train stagehands, maintaining a list of qualified workers sufficient to crew events.

• Provide stage crew supervision for internal and external events

• Maintain awareness of event schedules/calendar, meeting with directors/stage managers as needed to establish deadlines for production schedules

• Meeting as a part of the production team to clarify needs and determine technical equipment, support personnel, and timetables necessary for stage productions and all elements of scenic design

• Engage in classroom instruction, oversight of internships, and encouragement of hands-on experience in various aspects of technical theater

• Perform routine inspections, tests, and maintenance of equipment including sets, props, and other production-related gear and equipment

• Exercise good judgment, flexibility, creativity, and sensitivity in response to changing situations and needs

• Coordinate and provide (when appropriate and necessary) technical theater support for non-MPCS (outside rental) events, in collaboration with the MAC Executive Director and MAC Event Manager

• Consistently support compliance and the mission/vision statements set forth by Mount Paran Christian School; maintaining the privacy and confidentiality of information, protecting the assets of the organization, acting with ethics and integrity, reporting noncompliance, and adhering to applicable federal, state, and local laws and regulations, accreditation and licensor requirements (if applicable), and MPCS policies and procedures.
