POSITION OVERVIEW

About the Position

Sequoia schools is seeking an enthusiastic elementary music teacher to join our team. As an elementary music teacher, you will be responsible for creating a postiver and engaging learning environment that fosters creativity and love for music.

POSITION QUALIFICATIONS

Education

Bachelor's degree in education or music education

Experience

1 year of teaching experience

Other Requirements

Must possess or have the ability to obtain a valid IVP fingerprint clearance card by the time of hire.Must possess or have the ability to obtain a valid Arizona Teaching Certificate by the time of hire.Currently enrolled or completed student teaching or Student Teacher in service-Learning Contract

Preferred Requirements

1 or more years of music education teaching experienceMust possess or have the ability to possess a valid Arizona Teaching Certificate with Music Endorsement by the time of hire.

ESSENTIAL JOB TASKS

Plans and implements a program of study that, as much as possible, meets the individual needs, interests and abilities of students within the district curriculumUses effective teaching techniques and materials to implement established curriculum goals and objectivesCreates a weekly written lesson plan describing daily learning experiences-this weekly lesson plan is to be correlated with the aims and/or objectives in the curriculum guide and/or course outlineMonitors and assesses student progress in order to provide feedback on a regular basis to students and their parentsDiagnoses, instructs and evaluates specific student needs and seeks assistance of district specialists as requiredCommunicates aims and/or objectives to students in a well-planned, organized manner using clear and precise languageCreates a classroom environment that is conducive to learning and appropriate to the maturity and interests of studentsAssists the administration in implementing all policies and rules governing the development of proper student behaviorDevelops and implements reasonable classroom rules of behavior and procedure in a fair and just mannerCreates educational experiences that provide each student the opportunity to develop his/her potential in the areas of personal-social adjustment, decision-making, positive self-image and other life skillsPromotes and follows the adopted school district philosophy, policies regulations and administrative proceduresCommunicates concerns and ideas with colleagues, students, parents and community in a positive, professional and ethical mannerAssumes legal responsibility for the supervision of students on school property or in attendance at school-sponsored activitiesStrives to maintain and improve professional competenceAssumes individual responsibilities which may be assigned by the principal/supervisor and which may relate to committee work, student activities, student supervision or other planning and professional assignmentsMaintains accurate, complete, legible and correct records as required by law, district policy and administrative regulationTakes necessary and reasonable precautions to protect students, equipment, materials and facilities

Working Conditions

Regularly required to sit, stand, walk, crouch, bend, walking up and down stairs/ramps, talk, hear, operate a computer, hand-held learning devices and other office equipment, reach with hands and arms, and must occasionally lift and/or move up to 20 pounds
