Job Summary
In the MWSU Center for Academic Support, tutoring is provided to assist students. The main purpose is to provide academic assistance to students through one-on-one tutoring or small group tutoring in person at the CAS or online via Zoom. Secondary roles include staying up-to-date on discipline knowledge and light clerical responsibilities.

Writing Tutors.
Essential DutiesProvide academic assistance to students through one-on-one tutoring in person at the CAS or online via ZoomComplete rigorous training the first semester to cover clerical responsibilities, discipline knowledge, course content, and tutoring techniquesOperate the CAS front desk, which includes greeting clients, answering phones, logging clients in and out, and other light clerical tasksBuild on their knowledge foundation by studying materials and completing exercises that further their understanding of the disciplines tutored
Required QualificationsMWSU StudentDegree SeekingEnrolled at least part-timeMust have at least a 3.0 cumulative GPARecommendation by two MWSU Faculty membersMust have earned an A or B in English 104, 108 or ETC 200.
Preferred Qualifications
Preference will be given to applicants who received an A in the aforementioned English courses and/or have tutoring experience.
Knowledge, Skills, and AbilitiesKnowledge in the content area.
Physical DemandsSedentary Work: Exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally and/or a negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects, including the human body. Sedentary work involves sitting most of the time.
Additional DemandsPossible online tutoring.Must have access to a stable internet connection and a device with working camera, microphone and speakers.
