Summary

The Fine Arts department at Barry University seeks Adjunct Faculty to teach PHO206-01 & PHO208-01.

The Photography major gains extensive experience in the discipline of photography and uses the photographic image as a vehicle for self-expression and visual communication. Students majoring in Photography should demonstrate the highest degree of creative thinking, technical skills, and professionalism in utilizing the medium of photography.

PHO 206-01 - Digital Photography

An introduction to digital camera operation, including manipulation of shutter speeds and apertures as well as basic computer techniques. Emphasis is placed upon technical, aesthetic, and historical perspectives of the medium of photography and digital photography as a fine art.

PHO 208-01 - Smartphone Photography

This course teaches photography through the use of a smartphone or mobile device, to communicate ideas in a socially responsible way emphasizing content, composition, and critical evaluation of images. It covers aspects of the technology, including apps, in-camera processing, everyday communication, and social media usage. A historical overview will relate these devices to the processes of the past to better understand how they are currently affecting and changing our world.

Qualifications/Requirements

An MFA in Photography is required.1-3 years of teaching experienceAbility to deliver classroom material (lecture, discussion, small group study, etc...) in a clear and effective manner in a way that students can grasp and comprehend.Ability to create, administer, and evaluate exams, papers, and/or projects
