Local News Editor

KOCO, the ABC affiliate in Oklahoma City, OK., has an opening for a

News Editor . You will cover news stories as assigned. You have an excellent eye for visual compelling storytelling and is passionate about combining writing and storytelling with great pictures and sound. You will report to the Chief Photographer.

ResponsibilitiesEdit stories, videos, and newscasts on tight deadlinesMaintain news archivesOperate electronic newsgathering equipmentNonlinear editing using Adobe Premiere, Final Cut Pro, Avid, and Edius for newscast elements including PKGs, VOs, VOSOTs, opens, teases and preproduction materialCollaborate with producers, reporters and managers to produce high quality storiesEnsure storage and organization of media filesMaintain standards for all edited materialTaking in ENG and SNG feedsAny other editing responsibilities as assigned by news managers

RequirementsKnowledge of nonlinear editing softwareProficiency editing with Adobe PremiereCan handle and juggle multiple editing assignments under strict deadlinesKnowledge of current video production techniquesFamiliarity with mass communications law and media responsibilitiesRecord multiple feeds on a digital encoding systemSearch for source materials from multiple outlets and platformsRelated military experience will be consideredPossesses a valid drivers' license and good driving recordIn-person attendance is required
