DETAILS:The teacher of record in our Virtual Pupil Program will provide guidance and support for students working on their high school diploma and GED preparation coursework on Edgenuity and Essential Education. This position requires the successful candidate to respond daily (Monday-Friday) to student requests for help, and be available (at a scheduled time) on-site at the BAISD Career Center for one hour per week to help students in our drop-in lab. This is a part-time position.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Provide students with help and guidance in completing their online coursework on Edgenuity and Essential Education.Respond to student email requests for help within 24 hours of receiving the request.Maintain professional communication with students, keeping focus on the students' coursework.Assist students on-site in the drop-in lab one hour per week at a scheduled day and time between 3:30-5:30 pm.Abide by the Instructional Handbook.Attend required instructor meetings and professional development trainings.Comply with State and Federal statutes and Board Policy.Be present in buildings with regular and continued attendance and punctuality.Follow all Board Policies, Staff Handbook and Administrative Guidelines.

QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCEMust be a Michigan Highly Qualified teacher with a current Michigan Teaching License and be LQ, LZ or LX certified. Experience with online learning and Edgenuity preferred.

LANGUAGE SKILLSAbility to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLSAbility to apply advanced mathematical concepts such as exponents, logarithms, quadratic equations, and permutations. Ability to apply mathematical operations to such tasks as frequency distribution, determination of test reliability and validity, analysis of variance, correlation techniques, sampling theory, and factor analysis.

REASONING ABILITYAbility to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
