Gulf Copper Energy Services is looking for electricians that are also Electrical Thermographic Technician at least Level II certified NETA or ANSI. Located in Virginia or willing to travel to Norfolk, VA, hotel and per diem included.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:1. Perform electrical repair and maintenance such as assemble, install, test, or maintain electrical or electronic wiring, equipment, appliances, apparatus, or fixtures for ships, barges, equipment and facilities. May repair and install telephone systems.2. Troubleshoot and repair electrical components, systems, and equipment.3. Diagnose malfunctioning systems, apparatus, or components, using test equipment and hand tools to locate the cause of a breakdown and correct the problem.4. Advise supervision and/or Safety Department on whether continued operation of equipment could be hazardous.5. Determine the appropriate method and required equipment required for proper electrical repair.6. May be required to install conduits, run wire, and terminating.7. Place conduit, pipes, or tubing, inside designated partitions, walls, or other concealed areas, and pull insulated wires or cables through the conduit to complete circuits between boxes.8. May train workers to install, maintain, or repair electrical wiring, equipment, or fixtures when appropriate.9. Prepare sketches or follow blueprints to determine the location of wiring or equipment and to ensure conformance to building and safety codes.10. Able to operate shipboard switchgear.11. May assist during emergencies by operating floodlights or generators, placing flares, or driving needed vehicles.

Required Education & Experience:1. Minimum of High school graduate or G.E.D. preferred.2. Experience/knowledge of electrical circuitry.3. Industrial and/or marine Electrical experience preferred.1st Class: 3-5 years4. Maintain current electrician's license to meet governmental regulations (if applicable).

Working Conditions:1. Some climbing (100 feet) and lifting (50 lbs.) involved.2. Traverse gangways and scaffolding at varying heights while wearing fall prevention equipment.3. Working with hot and sometimes hazardous materials.4. Aboard ships, both on and offshore as well as confined spaces.5. Must be able to stand and operate equipment up to four continuous hours6. The work requires long periods of sitting in awkward positions, standing on a variety of surfaces and at differing angles, bending over, crouching and climbing up and over obstructions such as scaffolding, ladders, and internal barge and boat structural members.

Necessary Equipment Operation:1. Operation of volt/ohm meter, amp meter, megger, and voltage recorder.2. Various hand and power tools.3. Forklift4. Manlift

Special Skills:1. Ability to read and interpret blueprints, sketches, drawings and technical manuals (i.e.: electrical schematics.).2. Perform basic mathematical functions.3. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.4. High performance and a strong team player.5. Capability to coordinate work with supervisors, and other foreman.6. Ability to work under deadlines and schedule pressures.7. Commitment to company values and safety program.
