Department Overview

The Americas Division ("AD") was established in the Sumitomo Mitsui Trust Bank, Limited, New York Branch) ("SMTBNY") to perform corporate functions and supervise U.S. entities. Established under the AD are the "Global Banking Unit ("GBU"), Americas Division" and "Global Markets Unit ("GMU"), Americas Division" which performs business functions.

Investor Services and Business Solution Department ("ISB")

The Investor Services and Business Solution Department ("ISB") is responsible for (i) distribution, agency services, and developing new business opportunities for syndicated loan transactions and (ii) developing and executing business and operation plans and managing day-to-day operations and administrative matters in GBU.

Your Role Overview:

Associate position has two main roles as below.

Agency:

Responsible for deal processing, internal control, agency function and regulatory compliance.

Syndication (Origination and Distribution):

Responsible for managing all phases of the loan syndication process including origination, distribution, and execution of syndicated loan financings with a focus on financing mandates in GBU. Collaborates with other departments for loan origination, distribution, and execution to secure financing mandates from investors.

Your Duties and Responsibilities:

Agency:Oversee and perform necessary agent functions, including communicating with customers and other lenders for loan servicing and distribution of documents.Acts as primary point of contact with external borrowers and/or lenders in relation to loan agency & administration function.Performs business review of credit documentation, regulatory compliance review and booking of new investments and for amendments or periodic review.Ensures compliance and operational requirements are satisfied before closing and for amendments.Coordinates with internal and third parties to effect bookings, amendments and funding.Supports Credit Analysts with Branch and Head Office monitoring and reporting requirements.Tracks credit documentation and other customer reporting requirements for timely receipt.Maintains related systems, reports, credit files and websites as well as assigns application numbers and records approvals.Performs other duties and responsibilities as assigned by management.

Syndication (Origination and Distribution):Continuously monitors market trends to identify active participants, prevailing market terms and pricing, market depth, and other factors influencing lending and underwriting decisions.Advises and pitches to clients on market status, optimal structures, and syndication strategies for best execution in the syndicated loan capital markets.Collaborates with other departments to develop market-based structures and innovative capital raising solutions.Builds and maintains relationships with other banks and non-bank institutions to gather market intelligence during the origination process and assesses market capacity during syndication.Works closely with other departments to originate syndicated loan mandates and execute transactions once mandated.Develops junior members of the Distribution and Agency team and assists originators in managing deal teams during new deal origination and execution.Performs other duties and responsibilities as assigned by management.

Your Qualifications:Bachelor's degree in finance, Economics or related field with at least 5 years of related experience.2+ years of Loan Agency and Administration preferred.General knowledge of banking principles and/or loan markets.Excellent organization skills and detail oriented.Good interpersonal skills for team-oriented environment.Advanced in Microsoft 365 (Excel, PowerPoint, Word, Outlook, and Access).Excellent oral and written communication skills.

The anticipated salary range for this role is listed above. The specific salary offered to an employment applicant is based on the individual's qualifications, experiences, the job responsibilities, an analysis of the current compensation paid for similar roles in the local geographic area, and key distinctions of the job as compared to current jobs in the Branch. The role may also be eligible for an annual discretionary bonus.
