The Secondary Art Teacher will be responsible for developing in each pupil an interest and the ability for creative expression in visual terms, using skills and techniques of artistic expression consistent with State framework; to develop aesthetic understandings and appreciations; to discover and develop talents of pupils in the field of art.

Qualifications:Bachelor's Degree with major or minor in SpanishValid Arkansas teaching certification with required endorsementsMinimum of one (1) - three (3) years teaching experience preferredSuccessful experience as a classroom teacher and record in raising student achievementSuccessful secondary phase teaching experience resulting in good and outstanding learningPossesses the ability to implement relationships with district staff/parents and communicate effectively with these individualsSound knowledge of curriculum and instructionStrong organizational,time management and interpersonal skills

Duties and Responsibilities:Expertise in building active, collaborative classroom programs which encourage problem solving, critical thinking skills, and which develop a sense of classroom community and trustA proven ability to differentiate instruction and integrate learningAbility to use technology as a tool for teaching and learning in a fine arts contextTeaches knowledge and skills in art, including crafts, drawing, painting, lettering, design, art history, and other appropriate learning activitiesBe a part of a highly motivated team committed to education reform, parent choice, and the building of exemplary schoolsImplements a dynamic and rigorous approach to art and design educationPromotes scholars self-expression and exploration while deepening their knowledge and understanding of art, design and art historySuccessfully uses a backwards design model in creating curriculum with clear objectives and goals directly related to end of year benchmarksPlans and presents art displays and exhibitions designed to exhibit pupils work for the school and the communityEstablishes and maintains standards of pupil behavior needed to provide an orderly and productive student environmentDemonstrates techniques in activities such as drawing, painting, and modeling, using standard and teacher-prepared instructional aidsKeeps students on task and give appropriate feedback about performanceOther duties as assigned by supervisor or designee
