Job Description SummaryThe Studio Programs Coordinator is responsible for planning, teaching and facilitating art education courses, workshops and drop-in sessions. These activities inspire visitors to explore creative experimentation, develop an artistic practice and help visitors make meaningful connections to art found in the Museum's special exhibitions. The Studio Programs Coordinator facilitates the smooth delivery and implementation of educational studio classes, camps and art-making workshop programs.

Job Description

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:Coordinates and implements Museum Studio programs at the Sarasota Art Museum and off-site locations as needed, including, but not limited to:

Drop-in Art Making WorkshopsSummer Art CampAdult Studio ClassesOpen StudiosChildren and Family Studio classesTeen and Middle School Workshops

Hires, trains, supervises and schedules teaching artists, instructors and other contractual staff.Oversees recording of Museum Studio programs registration, attendance and program evaluation to ensure programs meet their attendance and revenue goals.Develops and maintains an up to date Museum Studio programs planning calendar, including all classes, workshops, drop in programs and special community events.Oversees the schedule of Museum Studio programs classroom use and prepares classrooms for all studio classes, camps and art-making workshops.Communicates studio standards to professional teaching artists and course instructors; provides support to professional teaching artists and course instructors; and assists in the studios as needed.Creates and updates planning documents related to studio programs, i.e., program descriptions, requests, show flows and operational plans.Maintains studio spaces, including conducting regular supply inventory; purchasing and maintaining supplies and equipment; administration of studio procedures and policies; and coordinating regular space cleaning.Manage Museum Studio programs budget.Coordinates the display of student and community artwork in the Community gallery space.Occasional lifting of supplies and equipment weighing up to 50 pounds.Availability for extended hours, weekends, evening and holidays is required.Reliable transportation is necessary to travel between sites.Perform other duties and tasks as assigned.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:Must be a creative, motivated, dynamic and outgoing individual with excellent interpersonal skills and ability to work on a team.Possesses strong teaching, critical thinking, and communication skills.Ability to build productive partnerships with diverse constituents, including schools, community agencies, institutions and the public.Demonstrates excellent time management, organizational, and writing skills with a high degree of accuracy and attention to detail, coupled with results-oriented behavior.Excellent customer service and hospitality skills, including ability to exercise good judgment in a variety of situations and to extend generosity and welcome at all times.Experience with registration software and applications.Proficient in full Microsoft Office and Google Suites.Ability to lead through a deep commitment to diversity, accessibility, equity, and inclusion, both within the Museum and with the intergenerational communities that we serve.Must possess flexibility, passion, creativity and adaptability to handle various needs in a dynamic and changing environment.

Education and Experience

MinimumBachelor's degree in art education, studio art, museum education or related area.Two years of professional experience in planning, implementing and promoting public programs.Experience teaching art, developing curriculum and/or managing an art program.Experience working with adults, children, youth and families of diverse backgrounds and income levels.

PreferredExperience developing and implementing studio education programs within amuseum context.Verbal and written fluency in Spanish.Patron Manager software experience.
