Position Overview

This is a regular student clerical position in which the student will perform communications related duties in an office setting. Typical duties may include, but are not limited to, writing content for university website, magazine, press releases or blog. Drafting emails and social media communications. Assisting with communications and marketing plans.

Department Specific Job FunctionsContent generation, including but not limited to social media, blogs, web, feature stories, press releases, including drafting new topics, research and conducting interviews as needed for composing articles.Drafting communications for internal and external audiences.Make recommendations for, and assist with, content changes to new and existing websites.Engage with the team on a regular basis to brainstorm ideas for new and innovative marketing and social media campaigns.Assist with gathering data for marketing reports and supporting a variety of marketing and advertising programs.Researching industry-specific sites (blogs, forums, etc.) for product reviews, customer comments and other relevant marketing information. Assist video producer with filming and/or editing.Assist with gathering content for the university's social media accounts.Assist with the management and development of the Broncho Bunch and Broncho Swagger Society.Attend campus events and activities as a member of the University Communications team.May assist with front desk duties in the office, as needed.Other duties as assigned.

Enrollment Requirements

Fall/Spring Semesters : All student employees must be enrolled at least half-time to be eligible to work any UCO student position. Half-time enrollment for fall/spring semesters is considered 5 hours for graduates and 6 hours for undergraduates. International students must be enrolled full-time to be eligible to work as a student employee. Full-time enrollment is 9 credit hours for graduates and 12 credit hours for undergraduates.

Summer Semester : Student employees working regular student positions must be enrolled in at least 3 credit hours to be eligible to work during the summer. Students not enrolled in summer classes must be enrolled in fall classes in order to work during the summer, but they (and the department) will be required to pay FICA taxes. Student employees working FWSP positions must be enrolled in a minimum of 6 credit hours (if undergraduate) or 5 credit hours (if graduate) in order to work during the summer in a Federal Work Study Program position.

Enrollment Exception : If the number of credit hours needed to graduate is less than the minimum number of hours required for student employment, the student must obtain a letter from their Academic Advisor (stating the number of hours needed to graduate and anticipated graduation date) and submit it to Human Resources. Qualifications/Experience Preferred

Seeking energetic team players who can function in a fast-paced environment. The ideal candidate must have a strong marketing/strategic communications aptitude including writing skills. Possibly pursuing a degree in strategic communications, marketing or related field.Experience with social networking; personal is fine.Excellent verbal and written communication skills.Ability to write in different styles, such as web, social media, press release, blog, etc.Possess strong writing and editing skills.Ability to work individually on a project or in a team environment.Experience updating website or blog content; personal is fine.Web content or feature article writing, personal is fine.Excellent interpersonal skills with a demonstrated ability to work well with people at all levels, and a strong commitment to teamwork.Experience with Adobe Creative Suite including InDesign, Acrobat, Photoshop and Illustrator.Experience with Canva.Knowledge of different social media platforms.Knowledgeable with new marketing trends.Knowledgeable in the AP writing style.
