We are seeking a music teacher to facilitate an engaging arts focused program in an constructivist, arts-integrated elementary learning environment that guides and encourages students to develop and fulfill their full potential academically and socially.
The Academy for Integrated Arts (AFIA) is an innovative, arts integrated school. Our school community is reflective, dedicated and caring. The unique vision of AFIA embraces arts instruction integrated into the core curriculum as a meaningful part of what students do every day. Essential skills, duties and responsibilities:Plan, prepare and deliver lesson plans and instructional materials that facilitate active, student-centered learning.Demonstrate an understanding and ability to implement inquiry-based, project learningDesign appropriately demanding instructional materialsFacilitate a student-centered classroom in which students students set goals and engage in deep thinking throughout the lessonDesign assessments and use data to inform instruction and planningBuild a positive classroom community and effectively manage student behaviorsInvest in students' well-being and build productive, positive relationships with students and their familiesDevelop a vision for student success and carry-out that vision through high-quality instructionProvide appropriate timely feedback to students and their familiesMaintain accurate documentation of students' progress and development utilizing established systemsCollaborate with colleagues and families in meeting needs of all studentsHave excellent communication skillsBe able to work collaboratively with others in a team environmentBe a reflective practitioner with a strong personal commitment to ongoing learning and growthBe willing to grow in the ability to implement the arts throughout the curriculumCollaborate with the art/music teachers and community partners to integrate arts across the curriculumDemonstrate ethical behavior, including understanding the importance of confidentiality of information about students and teachers in the school environment and communityEmbrace feedback and participate in continual, intensive job-embedded professional developmentDemonstrate an excellent work ethic, flexibility and positive attitude
Qualifications:Bachelor's degreeHold or be eligible to hold the appropriate certification (Music, Speech & Theater, Drama, Theater Arts, Early Childhood or Elementary Missouri Certification)
