The Marketing and Communications division of the American College of Physicians (ACP) is seeking candidates for the role of Public Relations Associate. ACP, a national organization of internal medicine physicians with headquarters in Philadelphia, is the largest medical specialty organization and the second-largest physician group in the United States with more than 161,000 members worldwide. This is a hybrid position with 2 days per week in the Philadelphia office required.

The Public Relations Associate assists in the development, implementation, and coordination of proactive public relations, media relations, and social media campaigns and activities in support of ACP and its flagship journal, Annals of Internal Medicine. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:Supporting Annals of Internal Medicine through news writing, author relations, media relations outreach, and responding to media requestsMaintaining and monitoring organizational social media accounts; drafting content for branded social media accounts in a variety of formats and stylesWorking with management to increase social media engagement around Annals articles, products, and servicesScanning a variety of sources for health care and medical-related articles of interest to the College for distribution to staff and leadershipGathering data and metrics to assess and report on the effectiveness of campaignsProviding administrative support to the Public Relations department including proofreading, distribution of material, creation of slide for presentations, and research projects as needed.

Qualified candidates will have:A Bachelor's degree in Public Relations, Marketing, Journalism, or a related field and 3-5 years of relevant experience in a team-based environmentDemonstrated knowledge and application of online news, technology and social media trends and tools.Strong written/verbal communication skills and ability to write and edit in various journalistic styles for a variety of audiencesStrong attention to detail, organization skills, and the ability to prioritize multiple tasks to meet deadlinesProject management, proofreading, and quality assurance skillsDemonstrated interest or experience in working with the news media and strong knowledge of social media. Excellent PC skills required, including Microsoft 365, Internet research, and database applications.
