Sr. Structural Designer

Position Summary

The Sr Structural Designer serves our internal and external customers by managing all aspects of Middlestreet Graphics & Display structural development for temporary POP displays and signage. Provides leadership and oversight in Structural creativity to help the company maintain profitability goals.

Essential FunctionsProvides day-to-day design leadership to encourage strategic thinking and creativity to develop compelling and captivating designs that fulfill customer needs.Oversees and directs all structural display development, POP prototyping, Bill of Material list, artwork file prep, and read assembly instructions for each project are completed on time to ensure departmental and company standards are met.Directs a team of structural designers. Ability to evaluate, guide, and if necessary, redirect creative and production development.Oversees the engineering and development of structural POP designs using various materials and methods involving: Corrugate, SBS, FoamCore, Styrene, PETG, Tape, Glue, etc.Directs staffing, training, and skill development of direct reports to allow for talent management and employee engagement goals to be met.Schedules and assigns graphic production jobs to structural designers maximizing department efficiency to serve internal and external customer needs.Establishes best practices and methods for structure creation, as well as Artios CAD software use and layout design following company standards and brand guidelines.Establish creative strategy, budgets, and schedules for key design projects.Manage the development and review the quality and accuracy of large-scale project designs.Supervises the production of physical prototypes and design mockups.Operates as a point-of-contact on Structural design initiatives/development for both internal and external customers.Collaborates with sales staff and customers in generating ideas and designs of POP display and signage for customers.Collaborates with the Production staff on best methods to execute designs to insure creative designs can be executed in the most cost effective manner thru the production cycle and ensures form fit and function in the retail environment.Ensure timelines are met for design concepts, artwork development, and print file delivery for customers and print production team.Provides feedback on artwork design for improvement or identify problems with artwork that need resolved and makes recommendations for changes.Remains up to date and current on all industry trends involving Display and POP Creative and production and design software.Communicates with co-workers, employees, and suppliers verbally and in writing regarding policy and procedure changes, departmental activities, operational feedback, and other information.Ensures that company policies, standards and procedures are met, followed and maintained in accordance with established company policy (e.g., OSHA and safety compliance, Federal/State/Local Laws).Maintains confidentiality of financial information, employee information (e.g., discipline, wage information), and other sensitive and confidential information.

Education Level

Bachelor's Degree in graphic design or related field or equivalent work experience is required.

Experience5 years graphic arts production experience required2 years previous graphic arts management experience1-3 years previous supervisory experience required.

Computer Skills

Must have advanced skills in Adobe Creative Suite (Illustrator, Photoshop, and InDesign), Font Management, Caldera, Acrobat and Microsoft Office; 3D CAD software experience strongly preferred.
