About the KDOL Internship Program

Who can apply: External (Open to all)

Classified/Unclassified Service: Unclassified

Full-Time/Part-Time: Part-Time, up to 20 hours per week

Regular/Temporary: Temporary

Work Schedule: Monday - Friday, flexible arrangements with supervisor; must not exceed 999 hours per year combined with Kansas Board of Regent's work experience on campus.

Eligible to Receive Benefits: No

Position Summary & Responsibilities: Web Design and Database Intern

The Kansas Department of Labor (KDOL) is seeking a Web Design and Database intern to assist the Labor Market Information Services (LMIS) division.

The Web Design and Database Intern will play a pivotal role in supporting the web and data operations of the Kansas Labor Information Center (KLIC) and Today's Occupations, Tomorrow's Opportunities (TOTO) websites. This internship provides an opportunity to gain hands-on experience in web design, data management, and collaborative processes within the Labor Market Information Services unit of the Kansas Department of Labor (KDOL). The intern will assist with web design tasks, maintaining the Workforce Information Database (WID), and support various data analysis and reporting activities.

Minimum Requirements / Qualifications:

* Preferably pursuing a degree in Computer Information Science, Web Design, Data Science, or related field.* Experience with Microsoft Office Products - specifically Excel, Outlook, and Teams.* Basic understanding of relational databases.* Basic knowledge of HTML and web design principles.

Preferred Qualifications:

* Some knowledge of R/RStudio would be beneficial, but not required.

Special Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

* Strong analytical skills and attention to detail.* Strong time management skills.* Ability to work collaboratively within a team environment.* Excellent communication and organizational skills.* Ability and willingness to learn new skills to further enhance current web designs and processes.
