Our client is seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Design Checking Specialist to join their team and contribute to the quality and accuracy of engineering designs.

Position Description:

As a Design Checking Specialist, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the accuracy and completeness of engineering CAD models, drawings, and documentation. Your responsibilities will include:

Examining engineering CAD models, drawings, and documentation to verify accuracy, completeness, and adherence to prescribed standards and contractual requirements.

Interpreting applicable drawing standard requirements and assessing the quality of technical backup data.

Investigating errors, recommending solutions, and providing direction in correcting errors in calculations, dimensions, and design specifications.

Collaborating with program managers, engineers, drafters, and designers to resolve issues and improve design quality.

Exercising authority to reject incorrect documentation based on technical content, standards, and specifications.

Supporting Drafting/Drawing Standards and reference manual revisions.

Working as a project/program team member to ensure alignment with project goals and deliverables.

Skills Required:

Strong knowledge of products and functional or technical areas, with a good understanding of engineering principles and practices.

Thorough understanding of applicable ASME and MIL standards, including MIL-STD-31000, ASME Y14.2-2014, ANSI Y14.5, ASME Y14.24, ASME Y14.35, and ASME Y14.41.

Skilled in the application and understanding of GD&T (ASME Y14.5M) and experience with validating tolerance stacks, including the impact of GD&T.

Familiarity with common manufacturing practices and capabilities, with experience supporting prototype and production build events.

Proven ability to work effectively with supervisors, organize and execute checking work, and adhere to schedules.

Self-starter with initiative, good problem-solving and organizational skills, and a track record of complying with company policies and procedures.

Proficiency in enforcing strict compliance with BAE System Model and Drawing SOPs and Guidelines.

Up-to-date knowledge of the latest engineering technology and manufacturing processes related to assigned products or functional areas.

Education Required:

Bachelor’s Degree in a relevant technical discipline, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

A minimum of 8 years of design experience plus 4 years as a checker; or 5 years as an engineer and 2 years as a checker.

Requires 3D CADD modeling and drafting experience. Defense experience is a big plus.
