POSITION SUMMARYFollows the Georgia Department of Education Standards and Curriculum. Well versed in engaging students at each level, utilizing a combination of creative and technological skills, ultimately enhancing critical thinking abilities. Prior experience in, or knowledge of curriculum aligned resources that can instruct students in multiple creative platforms to include animation, broadcast, film, graphic design/illustration, photography and web design. This position reports to the Principal.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIESPlans and uses appropriate innovative, project based and student centered activities, materials, and equipment that reflect understanding of the learning styles and needs of the students assigned.

Collaborates with other fine arts and core department teachers to provide students with integrated experiences.

Supervises and coordinates extracurricular activities for media arts students. Enhances curriculum through the use of guest artists and field based experiences.

Conducts ongoing authentic assessments of student achievement through formative and summative means. Analyzes data to inform instruction.

Conducts parent/teacher conferences to review students' progress, performance, and behavior problems. Participates in faculty and professional meetings, educational conferences and teacher training workshops.

All other duties, as assigned and required.

KEY JOB REQUIREMENTS

Minimum Requirement: Bachelor's degree in Art or Art Education.

Work Experience: One (1) year of teaching experience, substitute teacher experience, or student teaching experience preferred.

Requires inter-division coordination; makes decisions and recommendations which affect the assigned school, but at times affects others outside of the assigned school.

Educator certification issued by the Georgia Professional Standards Commission issued at a level SRT or eligible for an Educators Certificate issued by the Georgia Professional Standards Commission at level IN4T - SRT. Must be willing to meet CCPS Waiver requirements if not professionally certified in the required field by the Georgia Professional Standards Commission (GaPSC).

Supervisor is available to review established broad objectives; independent judgment is required to review and approve major recommendations.

Requires regular, frequent contact with internal personnel of influence and decision-making responsibility to discuss issues of moderate importance. Excellent interpersonal skills are required.

Requires regular, frequent communication with different constituencies; external agencies, parents, community, etc.

Responsible for multiple functions of instructional supervision with a high-level accountability for effective operation and results. Excellent classroom management is required.

Technology Applications Applies, recommends and implements technology concepts to improve the effectiveness of instruction and pedagogy.

Responsibility for the Welfare of Others: Frequently

Normal visual arts classroom setting and computer lab as needed. Maintain emotional control under stress. Some district and occasional statewide travel.

Light duty - On most occasions sitting at a desk or table; intermittently sitting, standing, walking, or stooping. On some occasions standing for moderate periods will be required when teaching use of equipment. Light lifting or carrying 25 lbs. or less.
