POSITION SUMMARY:

The

Dual Language Immersion Teacher

is done for the purpose/s of providing instruction in Spanish and English to students by serving as the teacher with specific responsibility for developing students' ability to effectively perform courses of study in both English and Spanish languages; supervising students within the classroom and other assigned areas; developing lesson plans and delivering group and individual instruction within established curriculum guidelines; collaborating with other teachers, other professional staff, and administrators in addressing the instructional and/or classroom issues; and responding to a wide range of inquiries from students' parents or guardians regarding instructional program and student progress.

Performance Responsibilities:Provides instruction in Spanish for the purpose of achieving success in academic, interpersonal and daily living skills through defined lesson plansAdapts classroom work for the purpose of providing students with instructional materials that address individualized learning plans within established lesson plansAdministers tests and language assessments for the purpose of evaluating students' language abilityAdvises parents and/or legal guardians of student progress for the purpose of communicating expectations; student's achievements; developing methods for improvement and/or reinforcing classroom goals in the home environmentAssesses student progress towards objectives, expectations, and/or goals for the purpose of providing feedback to students, parents and administrationCollaborates with instructional staff, other school personnel, parents and a variety of community resources for the purpose of improving the overall quality of student outcomes, achieving established classroom objectives in support of the school improvement planDirects assistant teachers, student teachers, instructional assistants, volunteers and/or student workers for the purpose of providing an effective classroom program and addressing the needs of individual studentsMonitors students in a variety of educational environments (e.g. classroom, playground, field trips, nap times, etc.) for the purpose of providing a safe and positive learning environmentParticipates in a variety of meetings for the purpose of conveying and/or gathering information required to perform functionsPerforms other related duties, as assigned, for the purpose of ensuring the efficient and effective functioning of the work unitPrepares a variety of written materials in both English and Spanish (e.g. grades, attendance, anecdotal records, etc.) for the purpose of documenting student progress and meeting mandated requirements

Available for face to face instruction within the school building with students present

EDUCATION:

Bachelor's degree

CERTIFICATION/LICENSES:

Teachers must be certified in identified content area of instruction (ELA, science, social studies, math, PE, art, or music) and pass the GACE Basic Skills Assessment or have exemption eligibility (ACT/SAT scores) and pass the GACE test in the respective content area and grade level (6th - 8th, or 6th - 12th)

Teachers must demonstrate advanced or native proficiency in Spanish and must be certified in Spanish

WORK EXPERIENCE:

High levels of proficiency (speaking, reading, and writing) in both English and SpanishExpertise in using best instructional practices, such as standards-based teaching, instructional assessment, cooperative learning, and differentiated instructionIntegrating multicultural concepts across the curriculumSkilled in teaching diverse students

Compensation

Salary Grade: T4-T7

Salary Range: FY' 22 Teacher Salary Schedule

Work Days: 202 Days
