Position Summary

Salary range for this position is: $19.97/hr. (depending on experience)

The Library Tech Desk Assistant is a part-time temporary position. This position contributes to student-centered library services for a diverse campus community under the general direction of the Circulation Program Manager at Seattle Centrals Broadway Campus and reports to the Library Dean. Duties include helping students at our Tech Desk with logging in, using basic computer applications, printing, and similar tasks. Tech Desk staff also help process and maintain circulating computer equipment. Other duties may include referring students to additional assistance, opening and closing the library, reshelving items, counting circulating items, straightening shelves, and completing related projects.

This part-time position is typically assigned 16 hours per week, four hours per day, Monday through Thursday when classes are in session.

What you will be working on:

* Provides welcoming, effective and timely service.* Answers basic informational and directional questions; refers users to appropriate employees as needed.* Performs library circulation tasks and assists with check-in and check-out processes and renewals; follows and explains library policies.* Assists library users at the Technology Desk with routine questions, such as software, login, and connectivity, printing, scanning, and photocopying.* Verifies student accounts and lending eligibility.* Assists with distributing, receiving, tracking, and maintaining circulating technology equipment, such as Chromebooks, cameras, hotspots, and headsets and performs simple servicing of equipment.* Troubleshoots and contacts IT support as needed.* Maintains user tallies and prepares statistical reports as directed by supervisor.* Participates in library-wide activities and planning to promote inclusion and equity in library services.* Perform related duties as assigned.

What you bring as a candidate: (Any Equivalent Combination of Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, Education and Experience)

* High school graduate.* Proficiency in using and explaining standard office software, including email, word processing and spreadsheets; ability to provide basic user support and troubleshoot common software applications and basic computer hardware problems.* Strong communication skills; ability to read quickly and accurately.* Ability to work effectively in a team environment and maintain positive and effective relationships with students and other employees.* Demonstrated commitment to promote equitable access and service to a diverse community.

Physical Requirements:

* Typically works in an office environment and uses a computer, telephone and other office equipment as needed to Perform duties. The noise level in the work environment is typical of that of an office.* Encounters frequent interruptions throughout the workday.* Is regularly required to provide 1:1 support, present to small groups, and work at a computer exercising repetitive hand motion with or without reasonable accommodation.
