Position Description:

LCG's Growth Team is seeking an experienced and proficient technical writer/editor, responsible for high-quality, audience-focused, written communications across multiple platforms. This role will support the Shared Services Group within the Growth Department. They will develop, edit, and maintain high-quality written artifacts for LCG. This role involves reviewing, editing, and writing original content for print materials and related documents to ensure compliance with federal standards and Plain Language Act requirements. These materials include, but are not limited to, corporate materials (fact sheets, key messages, issue briefs), newsletters, letters, analysis/white papers, executive messages, memos, blog posts, and social media copy. This will also extend to supporting the Proposal Operations Win Center Group within the Growth Team with secondary writing support for proposals and capability artifacts. The ideal candidate will excel in creating compelling content, interpreting technical input from Subject Matter Experts (SME), and collaborating with cross-functional teams to produce highly effective written material.

Duties and Responsibilities:Conduct substantive editing of written materials & proposal responses to enhance coherence and strengthen arguments.Create and publish written content for proposals and capability statements, including technical sections, management plans, based on collected technical and business data.Completing sense, grammar and consistency read-throughs of all materials.Support the coordination of the layout and presentation of written materials for submission, ensuring adherence to formatting and submission guidelines. Desktop publishing support may be required.Identify formatting inconsistencies which impact content clarity (involving paragraph distribution, indent, alignment, spacing, character level formatting and pagination), suggesting alternatives for improved readability and noting any queries for SMEs (or other author).Work independently and collaboratively on complex material, contributing to content development, editing, and producing final drafts.Evaluate and refine written content to enhance persuasiveness and effectiveness in addressing government requirements and governing criteria.Suggest alternatives to incorrect grammar, punctuation and awkward syntax, and marking corrections on proofs using standard proofreader marks and symbols by writing and/or inserting text callouts using the Acrobat/Word commenting tool.Recheck corrected documents against mark-up for accurate integration of changes and quality assurance.Craft compelling content that effectively communicates our value proposition.Oversee the accuracy, organization and formatting of library content to keep the proposal knowledgebase current, competitive and usable by the proposal team.

Requirements:Bachelor's degree in Technical Communication, Journalism, Business, or a related field.7-10 years of experience in persuasive writing for business, government contracting, or similar environments.Attention to detail, complex problem-solving, and effective time-management skills.Desktop Publishing (DTP) Skills, Copyediting and proofreading experience.Understanding of federal contracting requirements, proposal formats, and evaluation criteria.Experience with proposal management tools, MS Office, and document preparation software.Excellent writing, editing, and proofreading skills.Ability to interpret and present complex technical and business information in a clear and compelling manner.Ability to work independently and as part of a team.Demonstrated experience supporting a proposal knowledgebase and related processes.Effective communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to coordinate across various departments.Demonstrated mastery of publishing systems, cycles and activities.

Compensation and Benefits

The projected compensation range for this position is $110,000 to $150,000 per year benchmarked in the Washington, D.C. metropolitan area. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. Salary at LCG is determined by various factors, including but not limited to role, location, the combination of education/training, knowledge, skills, competencies, certifications, and work experience.
