The School Teacher implements the daily instructional plans of the classroom teacher in an effective manner. The School Teacher maintains a class environment favorable to learning and personal growth and establishes effective rapport with pupils while maintaining proper classroom management. The School Teacher works effectively with the building administrator and other teachers.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Meets and instructs assigned classes in the locations and at times designatedCreates and implements the instructional plans in accordance with the district curriculumMaintains a classroom climate that is conducive to learningMaintains reasonable rules which encourage self-discipline and responsibilityGuides the learning process toward the achievement of the school curriculum and goalsImplements a variety of instructional techniques and instructional mediaAcquaints self with and adheres to the policies and procedures as established by the Board ofEducation and Administration in written or verbal formCreates and implements response to Intervention programs as neededTakes all necessary and reasonable precautions to protect students, equipment, materials, and facilitiesMaintains records as required by law, district policy, and administrative regulationsAssists the administration in implementing all policies and rules governing student life and conductServices as a positive role model for students, demonstrating professionalism that includes a positive attitude, positive and respectful communication, and professional appearanceHolds and communicates high expectations of student achievement and behaviorAttends staff meetings and IEP Meetings as requested by the districtMeets expected standards of professional behaviorAdministers assessments on a timely basis as directed by administrationCommunicates effectively with parents when neededProvides individualized and small group instruction as prescribed in the daily instructional plansMaintains a professional and positive rapport with parents/co-workers/administration/School BoardSupervises classroom students, paraprofessionals and volunteers

Minimum Requirements:

Bachelor's Degree or higher requiredTeacher license/certification, as applicable by state or contract/districtOne year of experience as a school teacher, preferredWillingness and ability to accept direct responsibility for safety, wellbeing, or work output of other peopleAbility to read and implement instructional plans, correspond with parents and administration, and effectively present information and respond to questions from administration, parent, students, staff members, and the general public as requestedAbility to work with basic mathematical conceptsComplies with all relevant professional standards of practiceParticipation and completion of Amergis' Competency program when applicableCurrent CPR if applicableTB Questionnaire, PPD or chest x-ray if applicableCurrent Health certificate (per contract or state regulation)Must meet all federal, state and local requirementsSuccessful completion of new hire training as applicable to job siteUnderstand patient confidentiality and HIPAA requirementsAbility to effectively elicit/provide information to and from appropriate individuals (including, but not limited to, supervisors, co-workers, clients) via strong communication skills; proficiency in the English language is requiredComputer proficiency requiredMust be at least 18 years of age
